Wayne Bartlett

Wayne Bartlett passed away on February 20, 2012 at age 91. He was born in Wichita Falls, TX on January 30, 1921. He was raised on a homestead near Hagerman and lived most of his life in Roswell. Wayne worked at the Roswell School System and NMMI, but his ministry was his most important work. He pastored churches in Artesia, Ruidoso, and Roswell, and happily preached whenever he was asked. He wrote many songs and loved to whistle. He was a good and honorable man who loved the Lord and practiced what he preached. He was a wonderful husband and father. Even with Alzheimer’s, residents of the nursing home would ask him to pray for them, and he did so willingly. The last word he spoke was “Hallelujah.” He always had a smile for everyone and never failed to say “thank you for what you have done.”

Wayne was preceded in death by both of his parents, Robert C Bartlett and Priscilla Etta (Ettie) Lee Bartlett, and his five brothers Gilbert, Elgin, Thurston, Grady, and Jerry, and his daughter Loretta Scoggins and her husband Howard. He is survived by his wife Minnie, to whom he was married for 65 years. He is also survived by his daughters, Carol Crook and Wanda Gillard, of Roswell, sister, Juanita Noe of Oregon, nine grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Thank you to all family and friends who prayed for, visited with, and checked on his family and to the staff of both Casa Maria and Sunset Villa for your love and care. At his request, there will be no memorial service. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Please take a moment to share your thoughts and memories in the online register book at andersonbethany.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson Bethany Funeral Home and Crematory.
