Obituary for Joseph Hargreaves

Joseph Hargreaves at the age of 84 passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at his residence in Roswell.

He was born Joseph Samuel Hargreaves on March 10, 1928 in Newark, NJ to parents John Arthur and Gladys Lillian (Reis) Hargreaves. Joseph proudly served in the United States Navy. With the Navy, he traveled to various countries and had numerous memorable experiences. One memorable experience was when Joseph met Pope Pius XII. He cherished his time in the Navy and was a proud Veteran.

Joseph was an active member of his Church. He loved helping at St. Peters Catholic Church and volunteering at the Joy Center. Joseph enjoyed working in offices doing administrative duties and was very good at what he did. In his free time, Joseph loved to travel, especially when he was younger. He loved going to Las Vegas and Ruidoso to the casinos. He also had a passion for food and enjoyed horse racing.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Gladys Hargreaves.

Those left to cherish Joseph’s memory are brother, John Arthur Hargreaves II of Fanwood, NJ and sons John Jr. and Thomas; sister, Gladys Lillian Vano of Vista, CA and her children Susie, Louise, Florence, Andrew and Marie; sister, May E. Toll of Long Beach, CA and her children James II, Scott and Janet.
