Amalia Rodriguez

Amalia Rodriguez, 86, passed away on May 3, 2015, in Roswell, NM. She was born on July 2, 1928, to Perfecto Cardenas and Maria Villalva in Alamitos Satevo, Chihuahua, Mexico. Spending time with her family, sewing, crocheting blankets for the grandchildren, and traveling to Chihuahua, Mexico to see her sisters, were Amalia’s favorite things to do. Preceding Amalia in death were her parents; Perfecto Cardenas and Maria Villalva; husband, Juan Rodriguez; son, Manuel Rodriguez; daughter, Maria Guadalupe Rodriguez; sister, Elena Aguirre; brother-in-law, Franciso Vasquez; grandsons: Juan Enrique Rodriguez, and Gilbert Rodriguez; great-grandson, Izaak Joel Rodriguez. Survivors are her children: Primitivo Rodriguez and wife Cory; Ignacio Cardenas and his wife; Ricardo Rodriguez and wife Juanita; Mercedes Rodriguez; Fidelia Montanez and husband Oscar; Paula Rodriguez and husband Herbie; Juana Leyva; brothers: Jose Cardenas and wife Monica; Ramon Cardenas and wife Nena; Savino Cardenas; and Jesus Cardenas and wife Juanita; sisters: Manuela Rivas and husband Luciano and Maria Vasquez. Also surviving Amalia are thirty-three grandchildren; fifty great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. A rosary will be recited on Wednesday, May 6, 2015, 7:00 PM, at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, May 7, 2015, 10:00 AM, at St. John the Baptist Church. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery. Pallbearers are her grandchildren: Lorenzo Rodriguez, Primitivo Rodriguez Jr, Enriquez Rodriguez, Omar Rodriguez, Ruben Montañez, Edward Montañez, Manuel Rodriguez, Hector Vega and Andris Rodriguez. Honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren: Raquel Romero, Ericka McCarter, Amy Montañez, Elizabeth Lujan, Judy Rodriguez, Nancy Gonzales, Briana Leyva, Kristen Leyva, Velia Barrientos, Maria Rodriguez, Ramona Anderson, Maria Romero, Adela Rodriguez, Angelica Rodriguez, Margarita Hernandez and Melly Munoz.
