Arturo Urias Sr.

Arturo Urias Sr., 80, of Roswell, NM, passed away on September 30, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family who will continue to honor his legacy by living their life to the fullest and “walking the line the straight.” He was born in Camargo, MX on April 10, 1941, to the late Manuel and Amelia Urias. He is survived by his wife and love of his life of 38 years, Yolanda Urias, and his six children, Arturo Urias Jr., Mark Urias, Sabrina Gonzalez, Raymond Urias, Oralia Valdez, Willie Valdez, Eddie Valdez and numerous nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters Graciela Subialdea and Gloria Lopez. He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Yolanda Duran and Maria Brown, son Hector Urias, and grandson Arthur Urias III. In his younger days, Arturo enjoyed camping, fishing, but most of all hunting. He was an avid hunter and taught all of his children the art of hunting. He was well known for his concoctions where he would mix the weirdest types of food together and end up with a mouthwatering masterpiece. He enjoyed cold or a hot one while completing his word search 4books and after one time hitting the $50,000 on a scratcher, he forever was itching to scratch the next big winner. Arturo was a hard-working father who started early in his age working on farm equipment, construction, carpentry, and eventually retired from the State of New Mexico Highway Department after 13 years. Even after his retirement, he continued to work around the house till the day before an unscheduled, yet “routine” surgery took it all away. Daily, Arturo would spend quality time with his wife and two youngest grandchildren Santiago and Leilani. Grandpa will forever be Leilani’s “bestest” friend. He also had a special love for his daughter-in-law Amanda, otherwise known as “Flaca”. We, the family, will forever be thankful for Amanda’s love, dedication, and endless care she provided. We would also like to thank Mayra Duran for her care and support. A viewing for Arturo will begin at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, October 5th, 2021. A prayer of the rosary will begin at 1:30 p.m. with a memorial service to follow and be held at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home located at 2609 South Main, Roswell, NM 88201. Pallbearers will be Matthew Long, Charlie Fowler, Juan Gonzalez, Lizandro Feliciano, David L. Sutherland, and Jake Urias.
