Betty Miller

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Betty Miller, a beloved wife, devoted mother, grandmother, and cherished friend. Betty was born on February 7, 1942, in Artesia, NM and left this world peacefully at home on June 22, 2025, at the age of 83. Betty’s life was a beautiful example of love, strength, and unwavering kindness. Betty was the kind of wife most only dream of. She shared a deep and abiding love with her husband of 66 years, Darwin Miller, building a life filled with laughter, mutual respect, and quiet devotion. Their bond was a true partnership — one built not only on love, but on shared dreams, hard work, and a thousand everyday moments that will now be remembered as treasures. As a mother, Betty was nothing short of extraordinary. She was the heart of her family, offering endless support, unconditional love, and wisdom that guided her children through every phase of life, teaching them through her actions what it meant to be compassionate, strong, and deeply caring. Her love was a constant — patient, forgiving, and fierce in its loyalty. To know Betty was to know warmth. She had a gift for making people feel at home in her presence, and her selflessness touched everyone she met. Whether it was a comforting word or a listening ear. Betty always gave without expecting anything in return. Through the years she loved her companionship from her cats; Mr. Kitty, Alley, and Sneaky. Beyond her family she was a dedicated employee to the Chaves County Clerks Office for many years, and then retired from Valley Bank of Commerce. She was also a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Federal Order of Eagles for 48 years. She leaves behind a legacy of love, grace, and quiet strength that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Betty’s presence was a blessing, and her memory will be a light in the lives she touched. She is survived by her loving husband, Darwin Miller; her daughters: Scarlet Miller (Bill Baker), Sharla Carrillo (Joseph), and Starlin Waters; grandchildren: Ryan Miller, Bryce Carrillo, and great grandson, Jason Miller. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Starlin Miller; her son, Darwin Miller Jr.; her grandson, Zayne Carrillo; her parents, Bill and Verdie Ray; and her sister, Billie Runyan — all of whom will be there to lovingly welcome her home. In honoring Betty’s life, may we strive to live with the same kindness, humility, and deep love that she showed every single day. She was truly the best — the best wife, the best mom, and the best kind of person. She will be missed beyond words and remembered forever. In respecting Betty’s wishes the immediate family will have a private ceremony to celebrate her life.
