Bobby Ray Freeman Sr.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Bobby Ray Freeman, Sr., 73, on Sunday, September 11, 2016. He was born June 13, 1943, to Rosco C. Freeman and Ruby Doris Freeman, in Luling, Texas. Bobby was proud to have served America in the Army during the Vietnam War. After the war, he attended college at Gramly University to study Petroleum Engineering. Bobby worked as an engineer for 32 years at the Navajo Refinery in Artesia, NM. He was a real outdoorsman. Many activities he enjoyed were fishing, hunting, and walking. Bobby lived life to the fullest riding in rodeos and breaking wild horses. He loved animals, especially horses. He was an avid reader and would spend hours immersed in literature. A loyal sports, fan Bobby was always keeping up with his favorite baseball and football teams. He never lost faith in his Cowboys, even when they had off seasons. He was a loving father and doting grandfather. He especially enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents: Rosco C. Freeman and Ruby Doris Freeman; sisters: Virginia Burns, and Melva Jo Boyd; niece, Regina Freeman and a nephew, Paul Anthony Freeman. Those left to carry on Bobby’s heritage are his wife of 22 years, Kathleen Dixon-Freeman of Roswell, NM; daughters: Ruby G. Austin (Christopher) of Roswell, NM, Eloise Harrison of Louisiana, and Deanisha Washington-Suarez (Maribel) of Ft. Worth, TX; sons: Bobby J. Freeman (Lisa Thompson) of Beaumont, TX, Antoine Washington (Crystal) of Ruidoso, NM, and Danton Washington (Michelle) of Rio Rancho, NM; granddaughters: Jolene DePorto-Rocha (Alonzo) of Carlsbad, NM, Ania Austin of Tyler, TX, and Jenelle Washington of Rio Rancho, NM; grandsons: Seth Kellum of Roswell, NM, Demitrike Davis of Roswell, NM, Nathaniel Freeman of Carlsbad, NM, Dante Freeman of San Antonio, TX, and Jovan Freeman of Roswell, NM; brothers: Curtis Freeman (Emma) of Austin, TX, Paul Freeman (Inetta) of Roswell, NM, and Donny Freeman (Iretta) of Rowell, NM; sisters: Nancy and son, Daniel Freeman of Albuquerque, NM, and Desiree (Rick) of Roswell, NM. Additional survivors include numerous great-grandchildren nieces and nephews. Viewing will be held at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, September 16, 2016, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. A Funeral Service with Military Honors will be held in Bobby’s honor Saturday, September 17, 2016, 2:00 PM at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Pastor Landjur Abukusumo of Washington Chapel Christian Worship Center.
