Calvin Roberts

Calvin Roberts, 77, went to be with his Savior, on December 3, 2015. Born in Wichita Falls, TX, to Odis and Ruby Roberts, he grew up in Hobbs, NM and went to Hobbs schools. Working as a bread salesman for about twenty-five years, Calvin began as a Route Salesman then a Supervisor and finally General Manager of Sunbeam Bread Company in Roswell, NM until they went out of business. Afterward, he went to work for Lance Snacks until he retired. Calvin loved his family, pastor, church family and his friends. Preceding Calvin in death were his son, Pete Owens; parents, Odis and Ruby Roberts; sister, Betty Bearden; and brothers: Lewis Roberts, Ray Roberts, and Clay Roberts. Those left to carry on his heritage are his wife of fifty-three years, Elizabeth (Betty) Roberts; daughter, Darrie Francis and husband Andy; son, Tim Roberts and wife Maritza; grandchildren: Josh Howard and wife Laura, Jake Howard and wife Tiffany, Rebecca Gibson and husband Vance, Matthew Frances, Whitley L’Espence and husband Chris, Cherie (Squirt) Webb and husband Brandon, Candi Owens and Behrll, Chandon Owens and wife Shelby, Lee Owens and Estee Raye Roberts; brothers: Ronnie Canada and wife Donna, Roy Roberts and wife Lindy; and sister, Pat Camp and husband Jerry. Also surviving Calvin are twenty great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service honoring Calvin’s life will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2015, 10:00 AM, at First Church of the Nazarene. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery. Pastor Larry Lacher will officiate. Honorary pallbearers will be Virgil Haley, Don Adams and Ray Farley. Pallbearers will be Mark Boyd, Joshua Rodriguez, Rocky Rodriquez, Mike Branch, Curt Weems and Cory Cogill. The family would like to thank the people that were so kind to Calvin during his illness, our Pastor, Church family, Doctors, Nurses, Neighbors and even the Manager of Dairy Queen on Main Street.
