Catalina Raigoza

Catalina (Kay) Sanchez-Raigoza was born April 30, 1926, and passed away July 8, 2020, at the age of 94 or as she would say 27. She was the eldest child of Alfonso and Paula Sanchez, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death was an infant daughter, Marilyn; five siblings: Nanny Sanchez, Pete Sanchez, Fred Sanchez, Leonard Sanchez, her only sister Rosa Ponce, and Rosa’s husband, Lucas. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Clarence Moudy. She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Leo Raigoza; two daughters: Carolyn Arias and husband Albert and Cory Yates and husband Bruce; Leo’s children: Lorena Morales, Virginia Raigoza and husband Pedro Rosales, Martha Gutierrez and husband Silverio Gutierrez, Gloria Riagoza and husband Chilo Perez, Nelly Miranda and Martin Calderon; grandchildren from her daughters: Zachary Arias and fiancé Britny Chrisman, Zane Arias and wife Brianne, Zoie Arias, Patrick Carr and wife Shannon; great-grandchildren: Izzabelle Mendiola, Violet Arias, Gavan Gonzales, Connor Carr; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren from Leo’s children; brothers: Andy Sanchez and wife Lucy, Jimmy Sanchez and wife Rita; as well as Krystyna Sanchez, wife of Leonard Sanchez. Kay loved to garden, dance, sew, and be dressed to impress. Her grandson, Zachary, said she was the master of the vegetative arts. Kay’s granddaughter, Zoie, mentioned she disliked black at funerals as it should be a celebration of life. Zane and Brianne shared their favorite Gran Kay sayings “chicken ** poop” and “watch out for bears” whenever they camped. Her grandson Patrick said she advised him often the secret to a happy marriage is compromise. Kay’s green thumb grew into a yard mowing and landscaping business. When she became single with two daughters to raise, she put an ad in the paper “will haul anything for $10 a load,” and that is how she supported them, and that was the beginning of her business. Kay could look at an outfit, then go home and make it. Carolyn and Cory had many outfits made by her, and she made most of her own clothes. Kay loved to dance - she and Leo would seldom miss an opportunity to get out on the dance floor and have been known to stop on the side of the road and dance in the headlights. A Funeral Service for Kay will be held at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home on Friday, July 10, 2020, at 1:00 PM. Kay’s Funeral Service will be Livestreaming on the day of service.
