Charles Lynn Mathews, 70, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2024, in Roswell, New Mexico. There will be a Viewing at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home and Crematory on Sunday, April 21, 2024, from 5 pm to 8 pm. A Graveside Service will be held at South Park Cemetery on Monday, April 22, 2024, at 11 am with Jack Ferguson officiating. On December 13, 1953, Charles was born to Roy Eugene Mathews and Bernice Harrison in Roswell, New Mexico. He attended Roswell High School where he graduated. He married Twyla Smith on December 6, 1975, in Roswell, New Mexico. Charles “Lynn” worked as a self-employed truck driver. He was a member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. Charles “Lynn” was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Nascar, and old western movies. Above all else, Charles “Lynn” enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandkids. Those left to eternally treasure and cherish memories of Charles are his wife, Twyla Mathews of Roswell, New Mexico; Shelly Ervin and her husband Gene of Roswell, New Mexico; grandchildren: Sierra and Skylar Ervin of Roswell, New Mexico; mother, Bernice Mathews of Roswell, NM; brother, Terry Mathews of Roswell, NM; Ray Mathews and his wife Joann of Roswell, NM; sister, Brenda Kennedy and her husband Don of Roswell, NM; aunts: Sue Mathews and Betty Markham; uncle, Dee Harrison; nieces and nephews: Steve Kennedy and his wife ClaraAnne, David Kennedy and his wife Rayshell, DJ Kennedy and Kim Storie, Kimberly Guerrero, Amy Mathews and husband Justin, Mandi Clem and her husband Jason, Ryan Mathews and his wife Tammy, and Tammi Mathews and her husband Rick; and numerous great nieces and nephews. Charles “Lynn” was preceded in death by his dad, Roy Eugene Mathews; paternal grandparents: Willie and Gillie Mathews; maternal grandparents: Johnny and Florence Harrison; and numerous aunts and uncles. Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Steven Kennedy, David Kennedy, DJ Kennedy, Jimmie Williams, Lee Williams, Justin Campbell, Mark Johnson, and Ryan Mathews. Charles will be missed by his family and friends. His tribute was lovingly written by his family.
