Obituary for Charles “Chuck” Miller Chuck Miller, 82, of Roswell, NM passed away at home on Saturday, February 4, 2012 surrounded by his loved ones as he a his wife Katie observed their 58th wedding anniversary. He was born on September 19, 1929 in Dallas, TX to Charles Albert Miller Sr. and Gertrude Cawthon Miller who both preceded him in death. After serving in the Air Force during the Korean War, he returned to work in Louisiana. He was always proud to be a Veteran and the contribution he made to his country. Chuck and Katie met in Houma, Louisiana and were married on February 4, 1954. Throughout their 58 years of marriage, Chucks work took them throughout the United States, allowing him to enjoy his passion of fishing and golf. Their travels also provided their family cherished friendships that still remain to this day. Chuck and Katie remained in Roswell after Chuck retired from Transwestern Pipeline with almost 30 years to his credit, in the safety field. Retirement brought them the opportunity to volunteer. Volunteering their time gave Chuck and Katie decades of joy. Chuck was very active as a greeter at Grace Community Church and enjoyed his activities in their children’s ministry program. He cherished the friendships he made at Grace. Another opportunity to volunteer that brought him great joy was he becoming active in the First Tee of Pecos Valley program. Seeing young ones develop the love and skills of a sport he was so passionate about continued to bring joy to his heart every day. Aside from the love he had for his wife, Katie, Chuck cherished his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his daughter Pamela Miller Meredith and her husband Bufford of Elizabethton, TN, his son Charles Miller and his wife Celeste of Cranberry Township, PA, and his daughter Angela Miller Mitchell and her husband Tom of Molalla, OR. He is also survived by his grandchildren: granddaughter, Amy Meredith Knapp and her husband Emmitt, grandsons, Jacob Meredith and his wife Pamela, Jarrod Murray and his fiancé Marissa Messer, and Adam Murray. Great grandchildren: Sara Meredith Bryan and her husband Jason, Anna Meredith Jonsrud and her husband Jeremiah, Ethan Clemons, Emily Clemons, Erica Clemons, Waylon Meredith, Megan Cade, and Wyatt Meredith. Chuck is also survived by his beloved sister Mona M. Miller of Houston, TX. A memorial service will be held 3:30pm, Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home Chapel, 2609 S Main St, Roswell, NM. Family visitation will precede the service from 2-3:30 at the Anderson Bethany Funeral Home. Ed Elliott and Pastor Rick Hale of Grace Community Church will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the First Tee of Pecos Valley or the Children’s Ministry at Grace Community Church, Roswell. The family would like to thank Hospice for their loving assistance during his final days. A special thanks as well to Dr. Crit Hobbs and his staff for over 30 years of dedicated medical care.
