A rosary will be held Thursday, December 8, 2016, at 7:00 PM at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home for Christopher J. Garcia. A mass will be held on Friday, December 9, 2016, 10:00 AM at St. Peter’s Church. Chris’ final resting place will be at the General Douglas L. McBride Veteran’s Cemetery. Chris was called to be with our Lord on Tuesday, November 29, 2016. Chris was the youngest sibling of 8 children. Chris loved to cook and anyone who knew him knew what a good cook he truly was. He also loved to garden, and took great pride in taking care of his parents. He enjoyed hanging out with his family, playing horse shoes, family poker night, and just being around those he cared about. Chris had a heart of gold. He was a natural caregiver. Chris is survived by his parents: Rodolfo “Rudy” & Carmen Garcia of the family home; his children: Nicole and Andrew “Andy” Garcia of Las Vegas, NV; sisters: Lydia Gonzales & her husband, Richard of Roswell, Priscilla MacDonald of Albuquerque, NM, Mary Garcia of El Paso, TX, Bernice Estrada and her husband, Ernesto, of El Paso, TX; and brother, Rudy Joe Garcia and wife, Mozella of El Paso, TX. Chris is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Chris was preceded in death by his two brothers: George and Gerard Garcia and his grandparents, Luz & Bartolo Jimenez and Mary & Albert Garcia. Chris attended Roswell High School and graduated in 1982. After graduation, he joined the National Guard serving in Btry. A 1st Bn 200th ADA. He was honorably discharged in April of 1984. Chris began his career in the grocery business with Safeway, Furr’s & Albertson’s. He was also the Assistant Manager of K-Mart. In May of 2007, Chris opened Rudy’s Homestyle Burgers, which he named after his dad. Chris sold his business in 2010, to spend more time taking care of his parents. Chris loved taking care of his parents, they always came first. He was very proud of his kids, and the lives they were leading. Chris loved his nieces and nephews and always made time when anyone needed him. He was a loving father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. Honorary Pallbearers are Marcus Gonzales, Bert Jimenez, Eugene Analla, Fernando Garcia & Matthew Garcia. “Perhaps you aren’t ready yet to have to say good-bye… Perhaps you’ve thought of things you wish you’d said…well so have I. For one thing, I’d have told you, not to worry about me… I’m with the Lord in Heaven now; you knew that’s where I’d be. I’m sorry that you’re feeling sad, for I’m so happy now, But I’ve asked the Lord to ease your hurt and comfort you somehow. It’s hard at the beginning, but I know you’ll make it through, I hope it helps to know, that I’ll be there waiting for you.” Obituary was lovingly written by Chris’ family.
