Delbert "Del" Edward Angerstein

Delbert Angerstein Delbert "Del" Edward Angerstein passed away peacefully with his family by his side on March 12, 2020. Del was greeted into heaven by our Lord and Savior, his three Bubbas, his parents, parents-in-law and several other loved ones. There will be two Celebration of Life services. One will be held in Texas and one in New Mexico. They are currently pending and once shelter in place restrictions are lifted, we will reset the services to honor our sweet patriarch. Del was born on January 6, 1947 in SanSaba, Texas to Barton and Edith (Gatliff) Angerstein. As a teenager he went to school, worked and supported his younger siblings like they were his own children. Del graduated from San Saba high school in 1965 in San Saba, TX. After graduating, Delbert was drafted into the US Army. This is where Del first begin to work on electronics, a skill and passion that he would use and have until he passed away. On July 27, 1974 Del married the love of his life Deborah "Debbie" Kay Burton in Logansport, Louisiana. They had one child together Sonya (Angerstein) Brooks, whom had one daughter, Kelsey Brooks. Delbert used the skills that he gained in the military to work in electronics and the vending business in Colorado, New Mexico and Texas. It was his knowledge that brought the family to Roswell for Del to work as an engineer at KBIM-TV. As computers started to become more common, Del built businesses and several families in Roswell customized computer systems. Until his passing people would recognize him and tell him what a good computer he had built them. He also obtained his general contractors license and did construction and concrete in Texas and New Mexico. When Del wasn't working, he loved to play music and sing. At any given time you could hear him humming a tune. In addition to music he loved to hunt and fish. One of his favorite things was going back home to Texas to fish with his family. Del and Debbie have always gone out of their way to help anyone in need. Helping move people, rescuing people broke down, doing construction on their home or letting them stay with them, are just a few of the things that they've done for people. Del would take these opportunities to share His passion and relationship with God. By doing so, he brought many closer to our Savior. Del was out going and never met a stranger. Sweet, loving, caring, kind are just some of the words people have used to describe Del. The one word that really sums up Del was funny. He was always telling jokes or making up funny lyrics to songs. You couldn't be around Del very long before you had a smile on your face. His infectious laugh and beautiful smile is already missed. Del is survived by his wife Debbie of the family home; daughter Sonya Brooks of Roswell; adopted son Brian Paul and wife Amanda of Artesia; one granddaughter Kelsey Brooks of Roswell; sisters: Faye Hudson and husband, Doug of Early, TX; Judy Sykora and husband, Louis of Brownwood, TX; JoAnn Sikes and husband, Greg of Bangs, TX; and Donna Ratliff and husband, Jack of Yoakum, TX; brother-in-law Bob Burton of Dexter, NM; sister-in-law Eloise (Burton) Mize of Roswell, NM; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Del was preceded in death by his father, Barton Angerstein; mother, Edith Angerstein; brothers: Garland Green, Frank Angerstein, Bruce Angerstein. Honorary pallbearers: Jud Cooper, Tommy Parker, Eddie Sills, Donnie Stokes, John Sanders, Larry Leaper The family wanted to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the amazing staff at Fresenius Dialysis Center, ENMMC Med/Surg Nurses, Dr. Stiller and especially Dr. Abebe for your patience and loving care that y’all provided.
