Dr. Douglas K. Gillies

Dr. Douglas Gillies, 63, of Roswell, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2026, at UMC Hospital. A Viewing will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home Chapel. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Following the service, family and friends are invited to gather for a reception at The American Legion, located at 1620 N. Montana Ave., Roswell, NM 88201. Doug was born on April 11, 1962, in Boulder City, Nevada. He graduated from USC with a degree in Chiropractic and went on to open Southwest Chiropractic, where he helped countless people in his community and was beloved by many. He was a proud member of the Elks, American Legion, and Alien City Riders. Doug loved his family deeply and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and riding his motorcycle. He had a gift for telling jokes and bringing joy to those around him. Dr. Gillies is survived by his wife, Gracia (Judy) Gillies, father, Burke Gillies; his brother, Jerry (Tony) Gillies; and his children, Eli Gillies and Burke Gillies. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Anaylah, Delilah, Tula, and Teagan, and his goddaughter, Bella. He is further survived by his extended family, including Audrey Baker, Marina (Larry) Castro and Pete Estrada, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Doc is preceded in death by his mother LaJuana Gillies, brother Gregory Gillies, and his mother-in-law known as Grandma Gracie. Doc will be remembered for his quick wit, incredible knowledge, generosity, and perfect aim. His presence was a gift to all who knew him, and his laughter filled every room he entered. He never hesitated to help, to love, or to do the right thing. In his own wise words, “You miss every shot you don’t take.” Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Pete Estrada, Dominic Castro, Bart Buxton, Mooch Huntsman, Jimmy Wilson, and Chad Villanueve. Blessed to be chosen as Honorary Pallbearer’s is Jerry Gillies, Matt Marcucci and Ryan Miller. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, Hope Lodge in Lubbock, Texas.
