Obituary for Esperanza Bibanco Ortiz A rosary will be recited for Esperanza Bibanco Ortiz, 88, of Roswell, at 7 pm Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at Anderson-Bethany Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:10 pm, Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at Assumption Catholic Church with Father Bill McCann officiating. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery. Esperanza passed away on Friday, October 24, 2008 surrounded by her family. Visitation will be Tuesday, 8 am to 8 pm and Wednesday, 8 am to 10 am. Esperanza was born September 8, 1920 to Ricardo Vibanco and Paula Aguilar in Ysleta, Texas. She was member of Assumption Catholic Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, quilting and gardening. Esperanza is survived by her daughters, Toni Rodriguez and her husband, Manuel of Alamogordo; Josie Chavez and Paula Ortiz of Roswell; and Connie Silva and her husband, Danny of Bakersfield, CA; her sons, Francisco Ortiz and his wife, Gloria of Buckeye, AZ; Ignacio Ortiz and his wife, Peggy of Roswell; Eustacio Ortiz and his wife, Juana of Roswell; and Abraham Ortiz and his wife, Jeanne of Brooklyn Park, MD; her brothers, Ynez Vibanco and his wife, Natalia of Gary, IN; and Guadalupe Vibanco of Midland, TX; thirtyone grandchildren, firty-two great grandchildren and fourteen great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Esperanza was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Abraham Ortiz Sr., three sons, Gregorio, Robert and Jose Angel Ortiz, two grandsons, Robert T. Chavez and Chris Ortiz, three brothers, Pete Lucero, Chano Bivanco and Matilde Bibanco; one sister, Francisca Bibanco and one great-granddaughter, Elisa Rodriguez. Pallbearers will be her sons Francisco, Ignacio, Eustacio and Abraham Ortiz Jr. two grandsons, Art Rodriguez and Greg Chavez. Esperanza Bibanco Ortiz In a small white house on the east side of town, a gentle, sweet, loving lady took her last breath. Many of her loved ones were there, with the rest of us rushing from miles away. Our lord came to meet her as she closed her eyes and the grief poured from ours, but we knew she had to go. She was tired, she was ready, it was time. From this wonderful woman, many lessons were learned. The importance of faith, the willingness to hope, the necessity of laughter, the ability to forgive. We will miss her deep wisdom, her guiding hand, her gentle touch, her smiling eyes. She gave us so much, her generosity overflowed. She touched many hearts and her knowledge was endless. She lived through hard times, she overcame adversity with no harsh condemnation or regrets. She accepted her life, embraced it and lived it fully. She honored the guidance and teachings of Pope Paul II and Mother Teresa. She enjoyed listening to music of all types and Elvis Presley was her favorite. She supported with a youthful spirit her beloved New York Yankees. She was an avid reader, she loved birds, and going camping. She was a talented quilter, and many a grand and great-grandchild received their own hand-stitched blanket made with love. She was dedicated to family and friends and was always delighted when anyone came over to visit her. She was the best cook in the world ! Now, we who are left, who received the blessing of knowing and loving this sweet, gentle woman have memories to share and teachings to pass on to younger generations. We need to continue our lives in such a way that we honor her memory and endure that her legacy will live forever. Goodbye, sweet Mama. May the Lord bless you and keep you until we meet again.
