Eufemia Salas

A rosary will be recited for Eufemia Carrasco Salas, 79, of Hagerman at 7 pm Sunday, March 4, 2007, at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Hagerman. A mass will be celebrated for Eufemia at 2 pm Monday, March 5, 2007, at St. Catherine’s. Burial will follow in the Hagerman Cemetery. Viewing for Eufemia will be from 8-8 Saturday at the funeral home and before the rosary from 11 to 7 pm at the church. Eufemia passed away Thursday, March 1, 2007, at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center. Eufemia was born on March 20, 1927 to Francisco Carrasco and Carmen Arredondo Carrasco in Fort Stockton, Texas. She and Florencio Salas were married in June of 1946; he survives her at the family home. Eufemia was a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Hagerman. She enjoyed shopping and visiting family and friends. Eufemia was a very loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, who will be greatly missed. She raised her grandchildren until they started school and continued caring for them after that. In addition to her husband, Florencio, Eufemia is survived by her children, George Salas and his wife, Lolly, Nora Aguilar and her husband, Jr., Cora Hernandez and her husband, Mike, Lorey Madrid and her husband, Joe, all of Hagerman, Florencio (Chon) Salas and his wife, Gloria, of Roswell, and Dora Lopez and her husband, Jesse, of Hagerman; former daughter-in-law, Debra Salas of Roswell; a sister, Elodia Perez of California; a brother, Joaquin Arrendondo of Roswell; twenty-three grandchildren; forty great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild. Eufemia was preceded in death by her parents, Francisco and Carmen Carrasco, step-father, Marcos Gallindo, son, Benny Salas, grandson, James Madrid, and three sisters, Maria Dominguez, Antonia Villalva, and Vicenta Orona. Pallbearers will be Angelo and Eric Madrid, Jerry Hernandez, George Salas Jr., Damian Hamilton, Mark Salas, Dawnell Hamilton, and Heather Aguilar. Honorary pallbearers will be Frankie Salas, Benny Salas Jr., Mary Lou Espinoza, Veronica Cadengo, Brenda, Kimberly, and Shantell Aguilar, Janet Lopez, Tanya Loflin, Myra Aguilar, Jeanette Salas, and Ericka Salas.
