Genevieve "Genevie" Garcia

I have fought the good fight; I have finished the course, I have kept the faith 2 Timothy 4:7 Genevieve J. Garcia, known as Genevie or Bama, was led by angels straight to our good and merciful Lord’s arms on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was blessed with 98 years of life, having been born on February 11, 1924, to Dee and Encarnacion Jaramillo. Genevie’s mother died when she and her sister were very young, and they were then raised by their grandmother, Genoveva Montano, and step-grandfather, Santiago Montano. Genevie, a hard worker on the family ranches, along with excelling while getting an education, taught her the importance of loving others as God loves us and treating everyone the way she wanted to be treated. She was faithful in serving the Lord and inspiring others to do the same. The many children evidenced Genevie’s ability to love others she took into her home to raise for periods of time, with love and affection as though they were her own. Genevie was very creative and artistic as well. An active Adult Center member, Genevie not only attended classes there but also taught various classes. She was talented in weaving, beading, painting, and wood carving, and her culinary abilities were well-known. Genevie was married to the love of her life Bonnie E. Garcia, for 50 years before he was deceased. Those left to cherish Genevie’s memory are her children: Sylvia G. Sisneros (Nash), Rudy J. Garcia (Roseanne), Hope Rico (Henry), and Martina Garcia. She always believed and often said, “I don’t have a son or daughter-in-law; my four children were my diamonds, and when they married, I gained four more diamonds, so I have eight diamonds, and they have given me even more diamonds as their families have increased. “ The little diamonds surviving Genevie are her grandchildren: Nash B. Sisneros; Shannon Sisneros, Michele Garcia, Fernando L. Garcia, Konrad Garcia, Jay Garcia, Kara Garcia, Eric Rico, Joshua Rico, and Jarred Rico; great-grandchildren, which she also considered as diamonds: Jazz Sisneros, Xavier Sisneros, Catch Sisneros, Bayli Sisneros, Nikko Sisneros, Hank Thad Sisneros, Brandon Sisneros, Micah Sisneros, Addison Joyce, Eric D. Rico, Amberly Segura, Quinn Rico, Evelyn Rico, Christian Rico, Eleanor Rico, Fernando Garcia, Genoveva Garcia, Orion Garcia, Baltazar Garcia, Santana Mundy, Kobe Mundy, Deymeyun Garcia, and Heyvynn Garcia. Her smallest diamond is her great, great-grandchild, Alex Carlos. Survivors also include her brother, Pete Jaramillo; sister, Emma Martinez; nieces: Diana Chambers and Cherry Elias; a special friend, Chris Archuleta, whom she considered as a daughter; a sister-in-law, Rita Sanchez; many nieces, nephews too numerous to mention; as well as her beloved pet, Mia. Genevie is preceded in death by her parents, Dee and Encarnacion Jararnillo; husband, Bonnie E. Garcia; son, Fernando E. (Fred) Garcia; grandsons: Thad Sisneros and Fernando Garcia II; sister, Jeanne Mays; and her brother, Virgil Jaramillo. A Rosary will be recited on Monday, April 11, 2022, at 9:30 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Interment will immediately follow at South Park Cemetery. Those blessed to serve as Honorary Pallbearers are Nash B. Sisneros, Shannon Sisneros, Kara Garcia, Michele Garcia, and Chris Archuleta. Those honored to serve as Pallbearers are Jay Garcia, Fernando Garcia, Konrad Garcia, Eric Rico, Joshua Rico, and Jarred Rico. Genevie’s loving and inspirational spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
