Jeannie Lee DePoyster

Jeannie DePoyster of Roswell, NM got called home on May 24th, 2026. She had a spirited personality, a love for laughter, and a heart that centered around family and community. For more than 25 years, she dedicated her time to the Girl Scouts, and for nearly 30 years she was an active part of Sunrise Properties serving the community through parades, fundraisers, and local events. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, bingo nights, decorating her home, browsing antique and junk stores for hidden treasures, and relaxing with true crime shows and movies. A loyal Saints fan, she rarely missed a chance to cheer them on. She had a deep love for her dogs and animals of all kinds; she was a passionate history enthusiast who loved learning and sharing stories from the past. She especially enjoyed the excitement and tradition of the Kentucky Derby, always looking forward to a mint julep while cheering on the races. She also cherished spending time away with her longtime significant other, enjoying trips to the casino and making memories together. Above all else, she treasured every moment spent with her children and grandchildren, especially around the card table where stories, jokes, and love were always shared. She was preceded in death by her loving significant other, Mark Waltmire; her former husbands, Gerald DePoyster and James E. Cox; her parents, Lonnie and Jeannie Dudley; and her beloved dogs, Duke and Dolli; and her faithful feline Wendi. She is survived by her children, James Cox; Cassandra Fine and husband Jason; Krysta Mansell and husband Shane; Hollie Smith and husband Eric; and Kimberly DePoyster and fiancé Justin; her best friends, Hazel, Lucky, and Little Girl. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Patrick, Kody, Gerald Ray, and Christopher Cox; Audra, Desera, Natalee, Emanuel, Emily, Audrina, and Aidan Fine; Kaleb and Eden Mansell; Jessica, Stephanie, Wyatt, Luke, and Samantha Whelchel; along with her great-grandchildren: Harper and Axel Cox; Oakley Fine; Evelyn and Abigail Cox; Raylynn Kenagy; and Tanner Bryant. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home & Crematory at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Friends of Roswell Association in Jeannie’s name, due to her immense love of animals.
