John Stewart

John Ross Stewart went to the Lord on Thursday, September 7, 2017. John battled serious health issues since 2009, eventually surrendering to cancer. The family has chosen not to have a service. Born on March 31, 1958, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Edna Luttrell Stewart and Ross Gerald Stewart, John was an only child. The family relocated to Roswell, NM, in 1960, to be near John’s maternal grandparents. John graduated from Goddard High School in 1976, and then attended Phoenix Institute of Technology where he studied automotive mechanics. John worked in the oil and gas industry for nearly twenty years; first as a vibrator operator/assistant mechanic, then as a welder, and ultimately as a gas measurement technician. Ready for a change of pace in 1998, John opened Stewart Re-glazing, a tub and tile refinishing business. John loved cars, trucks and motorcycles and was proud of the collection he owned during his lifetime. He was a great defender of the right to bear arms and a proud supporter of the NRA. John was a huge advocate for animals and provided a loving home for many rescued dogs and cats. He was smart, talented, hardworking, generous, grateful, and an old-fashioned gentleman. He loved his family and friends. John was preceded in death by both parents. He is survived at the family home by his beloved wife, Sandra Petty Stewart; grandchildren: Joseph Schultz - Lucero and Danica Schultz -Lucero. He is also survived by Sandra’s children: Sashua Patton and her daughter, Stazja; Michael Schultz; Caryn Lucero - Snow (Josh Snow) and their children: Alex, Joshua, Raiden Snow; and her additional children: Stephen and Daniel Lucero. A Special Thank you to Dr. Adajar, who treated John for many years, Czar from Interim HealthCare of Roswell, NM, and Josh Patton, who was both friend and family to John.
