A Vigil with Rosary will be recited at Assumption Catholic Church at 7 p.m. Monday, November 16, 2009. A Funeral Mass of Resurrection is scheduled for 12:10p.m, Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at Assumption Catholic Church with Rev. Bill McCann officiating. On Wednesday, November 11, 2009, our beloved Jonathan R. Hernandez, 24, passed on to be with our Heavenly Father. Jonathan was born September 9, 1985 in Roswell, NM. He was a loving, caring, considerate, helpful and passionate person. He had a smile that lit up a room; he was always happy and made everyone he encountered feel as though they were the most important person in his life. He loved his family and friends with his whole heart and he will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him. Jonathan is a true hero. From his passing, he has given many people a second chance at life through his decision to be an organ donor. Jonathan attended and played football for Roswell High School and was pursuing his Air Traffic Control Degree at ENMU-R. He enjoyed hunting with his uncles and cousins and had recently returned from their annual hunting trip. Jonathan was also the youngest member of the Moose Family Lodge #1517 in Albuquerque, NM. Jonathan is survived by his mother, Veronica Hernandez and her companion, Tina Trujillo and his father, Johnny D. Hernandez; grandmothers Teresa Chavez, Mary Lou Hernandez; grandfathers Richard Duran and his wife Roxanna and John Navarro; great-grandmother Veronica "Betty" Chavez; fiance and love of his life Erica Trevizo and their special pup, Ryder; sisters JoVonna Hernandez and her fiance Kyle Wright, Santana-Jade Hernandez and Jordan Hernandez; brother Joseph Johnny Hernandez; uncles Craig Duran and his wife Nikki, Jarrod Duran, Jimmy Hernandez, Eddie Navarro and Victor Navarro and his wife Lisa; aunts Sylvia Hernandez-Aguilar and her husband William and Natasha Gonzales; niece Jaiden Wright; cousins Kelsie, Kirsten, Kaylen, Karli and Renden Duran, Vincent J. W. Aguilar, Jimmy Juan Hernandez, Anereya Teran, Victoria and Stephanie Navarro. He is preceded in death by his grandfathers; Juan F. Hernandez and Ben "Tique" Artiaga; great-grandfather; Melchor "Mike" Chavez; great-grandparents; Pedro F. and Josefina Hernandez and Manuel and Martha Duran, great-grandmother; Juana De La O. Pallbearers will be Craig Duran, Jarrod Duran, John Navarro, Adam Ortega, Abran Alvarez, Tim Sanchez, Jeremy Stovall and Kyle Greathouse. Honorary pallbearers are Joe Samario, David Vasquez, Freddie Palomino, Ryan Payne, Alfred Tavarez, Figo Lucero, Christopher "Pookie" Sosa, Stephen Trevizo, Lucas Gallegos, Daniel Rubio, Gabe Garcia and numerous cousins, friends and family. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Jonathan's name to the Poor Claire Monastery, 809 E. 19th St., Roswell, NM 88201. God saw he was getting tired and a cure was no to be, so He put His arms around him and whispered Come with Me. With tearful eyes we watched him suffer and saw him fad away. Although we loved him dearly we could not make him stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard-working hands to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us he only takes the best. -Author Unknown
