Kenneth Spicer

Kenneth Neal Spicer, 45, of Grand Junction, CO passed away April 23, 2009 in Denver, CO with the love of his family surrounding him. Kenneth was born February 18, 1964 in Houston, TX to Winfred and Cynthia Spicer. He spent most of his childhood in Bakersfield, CA and Roswell, NM. He married Tamara Satterfield October 27, 1997 in Roswell. Kenneth followed in his father’s footsteps and served his country in the United States Army from 1985 to 1989 in Bad Kissingen Germany and Colorado Springs, CO. During his enlistment he was promoted to Specialist E4, and received various awards including expert shooting badges. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he worked for TMC in Roswell, then became a truck driver for many years. He worked for Spicer Wireline services for the past several years in Bakersfield, CA, Roswell, NM, and Grand Junction, CO. Kenneth was a fun loving, joking, person that could make anyone around him laugh, especially when he was with friends. He enjoyed camping with his family and especially enjoyed his “toys”, which were his four-wheelers and dirt bikes. Nothing meant more to him than having his whole family together. He had a nickname for everyone he knew from Taco Lady to Bull Frog. He spent many hours restoring old trucks with his friends and family in his driveway and treasured his tools in his shop. He enjoyed having Star Trek and Rocky marathons and made whoever was around watch with him no matter how much they complained. He was a rocker at heart and enjoyed rock n’ roll from the 80’s and his own personal comedic songs he would come up with at the drop of a dime. The last concert he went to with his family was to watch Def Leppard, Foreigner, Styx and Chicago. He had a smile on his face the entire time and would have lived at concerts if he could. He enjoyed watching his kids play sports, especially football. He was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan. Kenneth coached the Wild Things softball team with his good friend Frank Martinez to many championships. Every girl that passed through their team always held a special place in his heart. Kenneth was a strong, stubborn, light hearted, caring person that taught the people around him so much and he will be truly missed. Kenneth is survived by his wife of the family home, his children: Kymberly of Roswell, Jonathan of Grand Junction, CO, Kyla of Grand Junction, CO, Joshua of Roswell and Jacob of Grand Junction, CO, and one grandchild Devin of Roswell. He is also survived by his mother, Cindy of Roswell, his brothers; Bobby and his wife Elaine of Bakersfield, CA, Ricky and his wife Christina of Farmington, NM, and Jimmy and his wife Ginger of Bakersfield, CA, supportive family friend Rita, numerous nieces and nephews, extended family members, and special friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Winfred and a brother Skipper. Services will be held at 9 am Saturday, May 9, 2009 at South Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Anderson-Bethany Funeral Home & Crematory.
