Funeral Services for Kierra Michelle Lopez, 17, of Roswell, will be held at 1 pm Monday, October 5, 2009 at Waymaker Church with Pastor Mike Knowlton officiating. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery. Kierra passed away Thursday, October 1, 2009 in Albuquerque. Public visitation will be held Monday, October 5, 2009 from 12pm to 12:45 pm at Waymaker Church. Kierra was born on June 6, 1992 to Larry and Tracy Lopez in Roswell. Kierra deeply loved her family, friends and God. She loved playing volleyball, basketball, soccer and running track for Goddard High School. She also enjoyed snowboarding, swimming and had a knack for finding an adventure or making one all on her own. Kierra aspired to be a nurse practitioner and volunteered during her spare time at ENMMC. She had a way of seeing beauty in everything and you would often find her adding touches that inspired her and others. She loved taking pictures and you could see her personality in the photos she took. She always had a smile on her face or a comic look to make others smile. Inside jokes brightened the lives of the many people that knew her. Just one look and you knew what she was thinking. Kierra always tried to brighten the lives of others and would give anything to help. She brought great joy to all who knew her, her seventeen years on earth were a blessing from God. Kierra will always be cherished by those who knew and loved her. Kierra is survived by her parents Larry and Tracy Lopez; one sister, Megan LaDriere and her husband Matt of Las Cruces; one brother, A. Shane Lopez of Santa Fe; her maternal grandparents, Lawrence and Emilie Roybal, of Silver City and paternal grandmother Rebecca Lopez of Ft. Sumner; her aunts and uncles Dean and Laurie Ballenger of Noblesville, IN, Bonnie Roybal of Carmel, IN, Ramon and Joann Lopez of Ft. Sumner, NM, Pat and Glenda Lopez of Gallup, NM, Herman and Linda Gonzales of Ft. Sumner, NM, Andy and Irene Anaya, of Ft. Sumner, NM, Vicky Lopez of Clovis, NM, Gerald Lopez of Roswell and Perry and Margarita Lopez of Phoenix, AZ; two great uncles, nineteen special cousins and twelve second cousins. Kierra was preceded in death by her grandparents Roman and Santana Coronado. Pallbearers will be Josh and Gabe Vitt, Chris Davis, Lawrence and Josh Ballenger and D. J. Gonzales. Honorary pallbearers will be Zach Ballenger, Brando LaDriere, Maira Maese, Val Gonzalez and Kristen Kitchen. The family wants to express their sincere thanks to the nursing staff at UNM Hospital for the compassionate care they gave Kierra during her illness.
