Maria Gonzalez

Maria Gonzalez, 95, passed away on June 12, 2015 in Roswell, NM. She was born to Jose Cerda and Felipa Gonzalez on March 11, 1920, in Juarez, Mexico. Maria loved spending time with her family, cooking, and gardening. Another hobby she had was cross-stitch. She had a great love for dolls, which she had a large collection of. Preceding Maria in death are her parents; three daughters: Dolores Rodriguez, Bernarda Ortiz, and Natalia Contreras; and one son, Francisco Carrasco. Surviving Maria is her son, Isidoro Ortiz and two daughters: Carlota Parra and Socorro Coronado. Also surviving are twenty-five grandchildren: Guillermo Rodriguez, Martha Rodriguez, Juan Rodriguez, Eduviges Rodriguez, Aracely Rodriguez, Antonio Carrasco, Aracely Carrasco, Francisco Carrasco, Enrique Ortiz, Martha Ortiz, Veronica Ortiz, Ana Ortiz, Estela Valdez, and Ruben Valdez, all of Juarez, Mexico, Armando Parra, Mario Parra, Carlos Parra, Martha Fierro, all of Texas, Bertha Vital, Maribel Contreras, Adrian Contreras, all of Roswell, NM, Oscar Coronado, Maria Coronado, Lorenzo Coronado, and Mario Contreras, all of Dexter, NM. Among the numerous grandchildren, there are also forty-five great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild that survive Maria. A rosary will be recited on Sunday, June 14, 2015 at 7:00 PM at Immaculate Conception, in Dexter, NM. Mass will be held the following day, Monday, June 15, 2015 at 10:00 AM also at Immaculate Conception. She will be laid to rest at South Park Cemetery immediately following the mass service. Pallbearers will be: Mario Contreras, Adrian Contreras, Jose Vital, Mark Coronado, Joshua Coronado, and Lorenzo Coronado. The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Casa Maria, her favorite nurse Majo, and the aides who always made sure that she looked her best. Thank you, Normita, Lupita, Brandy, and Yohna for all the love and support. Also, a big thank you to her roommate Maria Coronado.
