Marshall E. Singleton

On Monday, June 17, 2019, our beloved brother and patriarch, Marshall Singleton, went home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ, after a short illness. SERVICES: A Funeral Service will be held at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, July 5, 2019, 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery. PRECEDED: Preceding Marshall in death were his: parents, Lonzie and Luerenzie Singleton; two brothers: Lionel and Sylvester Singleton; one sister, Liz Singleton; and several nieces and nephews. SURVIVORS: Marshall leaves behind his sisters: Mary Dixon, Mildred Andrews and husband Charles, Gaynell Wigington, Cathy Singleton, Regina Cheadle and husband Clareance; brothers: Curtis Singleton, Sam Singleton, Edward Singleton and wife Snezhenna; Clareance Singleton, and JohnL Singleton and wife Dessera. Born in San Augustine, Texas, on October 2, 1939, Marshall resided in different areas of Texas until 1957, when his parents moved to Roswell, New Mexico, where he held several jobs over the years. In 1961, he went into the U.S. Navy, where he served four years and then went into the Navy Reserves for one year. Marshall received an honorable discharge after serving his country for five years total. He remained in California until his return to Roswell in 1992. After Marshall’s return to New Mexico, he had several jobs in the public eye, where he met and made many friends. In 2004, he retired and began a life he thoroughly enjoyed as a retiree. Marshall is loved by his family and friends for his huge heart and generous spirit. He was one of the most giving of men to family and friends. Marshall attended Church On The Move for several years. Although Marshall didn't speak of it often, he was raised in the Church by Godly parents, and he believed in our Lord Jesus Christ. His allegiance to Christ was reaffirmed before his death as he encouraged others to accept salvation in Christ before death claimed their souls. It is with great sadness as we see our brother, Marshall, go to his home with Christ and all those family members who have gone before him. But it is with great joy and peace as we know we shall see him again. Marshall’s tribute was lovingly written in his honor by his family.
