Obituary for Mary Helen Licon 72 Mary Helen Licon went home to be with the Lord Jesus on Monday April 20th, 2026. She was surrounded by her family and special caregivers. Please take a moment and share a kind thought or memory with Mary’s family at www.andersonbethany.com A Celebration of Life will be held for Mary at the Sunken Garden, Cahoon Park in Roswell New Mexico on Saturday April 25th at 1:00 pm. Mary was born on November 19th, 1953 to Ramon Licon Jr and Cecilia Chavez in Albuquerque New Mexico. Mary was a lifelong resident of Roswell; Mary was a member of the Roswell High drill team and graduated from Roswell High School. She looked forward to parade day and the State Fair. She loved going out with her girlfriends from high school and cruising to old music from the 50s and 60s. Mary moved to Southern California after high school and worked for Hughes Aircraft, she loved the beach and city life but there was no place like home she would often say. Mary returned to Roswell where she had her two daughters Melanie Licon and Angela Licon Gonzales. Mary loved to attend church with her mother on Sunday morning and going out after to get a hamburger and milkshake. She loved to go shopping with her sister or for a ride around town, but what Mary enjoyed most was spending time with her daughters and her grandkids. She took great care of her grandkids and would do anything to make them happy. She loved spending time on holidays with her family; she always had a card with a heartfelt message and gifts for all her kids and grandkids. It didn’t matter the holiday she always had something special for her kids and grandkids. Her grandkids were always with her, where she was, you would find one or all of them with her. Mary was a genuinely kind and gentle person who loved Jesus and her family. Mary was happy if she had a coke, a candy bar, and her kids with her. Mary is going to be missed by all who knew her. Those left to treasure and cherish memories of Mary are her daughter Melanie Licon, Son-in-law Cisco Gonzales, granddaughter Uriah Mares and husband Jeremiah, granddaughter Kyla Gonzales, granddaughter Juanita Aguilar, granddaughter Aziah Wolf, grandson Ethan Wolf, great grandchildren, Alayah Gonzales, Gino Pena III, Eli Pena, Sylis Hudson and baby Mares, Josiah Spicer, Lilillana Spicer, brother Larry Sanchez, brother Jesse Licon, brother Gilbert Licon, sister Sandra Licon, aunt Elisa Romero. Countless nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she loved dearly. Mary is preceded in death by her daughter Angela Licon Gonzales, grandson Isaiah Gonzales, Mother Cecilia Chavez Garcia, Father Ramon Licon Jr., maternal grandparents Willie and Cornelia Chavez, paternal grandparents Ramon Sr and Rosenda Licon, maternal great grandparents Pablo and Gregoria Padilla Chavez, brother Daniel Licon, Brother Gary Sanchez, sister Carmen Vigil, brother-in-law Bobby Vigil, aunt Viola Kalinec, aunt Minnie Garcia, aunt Helen Nulf, uncle Willie Chaves Jr., uncle Leo Chavez, uncle Jake Chavez, uncle Johnny Chavez, uncle Jose Licon, uncle Rodolfo “Rudy” Licon, nephew Dany Ray Licon, great nephew Jeremiah Licon. Ohhh Mommy, how I’m going to miss you. Sitting and talking for hours about the good ol days. Taking you for a ride and a coke. Driving you to get hamburger or listening to old music. How I will miss all of it. You are free now, free of sickness, free of the burdens this world brings. I am so happy for you, you are with sister, brother, and Nana now, with no cares, pure joy, and love in the presence of our Savior Jesus! I’ll see you in heaven Mommy, until then I’ll be missing you like crazy every day! A special thanks to all of Mommy’s care givers, Miss Annette, Laura, Crystal, Nicole, Julio, and Teresa, thank you for all you did for her during the most difficult times. You all were like angels that took great care of her in her final days. We are so appreciative and could never thank you enough!
