Mary Beth Towndrow

Mary Beth [Hood] Towndrow passed away unexpectedly October 23, 2016. She was born in Roswell, New Mexico, on March 20, 1957, to James William (Bill) Hood and Elsie Lindgren Hood. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Towndrow; her father; grandparents: Chester and Virgie Hood, Ivar and Katie Lindgren; and her nephew, Eric Jason McGarrah. Mary is survived by four sisters: Rhonda Van Winkle, Liz Bartlett, Jo Ann Bunn, and Melinda Weatherford. In addition, remaining to cherish their aunt’s memory, are her loving nieces and nephews: Michelle Bailey, Stephanie Mason, Billy Bartlett, Jennifer Johnson, Elisha Bunn, Rebecca Weatherford, and James Weatherford. Also surviving her are great nieces and nephews: Justin L., Kortni, Rylee, C.J., Tavi, Destinee, Ocianna, Cody, Kacie, Kori, Kaylin, Kalie, Logan A., Megan, Justin J., Trinity, Logan R., Kaylee, Tara, Michael, and many step nieces and nephews. Mary was excited to become a great-great aunt to John Lucas who is due in December. Mary, a breast cancer survivor, was commonly referred to as “Aunt Mary” by both family and friends, because of her loving and nurturing character. Mary was a member of the Eagles Club and Tabernacle Baptist Church. She was a Facebook and bingo enthusiast, and was an excellent friend, who touched the lives of more people than can be counted. She loved and cared for all children like a mother. She easily made friends because of her funny and kind-hearted personality, and was loved by many. Those in her life enjoyed every minute that was spent in her company and will dearly miss her amazing sense of humor and contagious laughter. Mary never encountered a stranger who was not immediately captivated by her kindness and beauty. Even though she didn’t have much, she would give her last penny to help someone. Mary never lost her childlike enthusiasm, especially around the holidays, and brought joy to all who she encountered. We will remember her as the kindest, and most sincere woman that we have been so blessed to have known and loved. She was a gorgeous person inside and out and will be dearly missed. In lieu of services we have spent the last week remembering and celebrating her life. Obituary was lovingly written by Mary’s family.
