May Turner Christie

May Lorene Turner Christie moved into God's eternal home on July 21, 2010. The graveside "Celebration of Life" "' will be at 9am July 23, 2010 at South Park Cemetery, Roswell NM. Lorene was born in Mt. Dora, New Mexico on June 28, 1917 to Dr. Marcus & Emma Turner who precede her in death as well as her sisters, Mary Turner, Velma Sprouse, and unnamed infant siblings. Also welcoming Mom into heaven are: her husband, Slaton JR Christie; grandchildren: Karen Misti Brown, Franklin Joe Chavedo, Tammy Christie; great grand daughter: Karissa Nicole Judd; daughter-in-law: Linda Kay Christie; sons-in- law, Joe Chavedo, Jackie Lamm; and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews. Lorene was a descendant of Charles Goodnight, the famous cattle baron of Texas. Widowed at age 38; Lorene raised 7 children who survive: Karen Snook and husband Roy; Katreca Lamm; Berdina Brown and husband Jerry; Criss Christie and wife Barb; Mark Christie and wife Kathy; John Christie and wife Anne; Gene Christie and wife Kathy. She had 24 grand children; 29 great grand children; 21 great-great grandchildren. Lorene was active in the Lord's work showing great love and mercy throughout her life. She unselfishly gave of herself in doing whatever needed doing for her family, friends, neighbors and church; teaching, giving rides, feeding visitors, cleaning the church, singing in choir, assisted with services at the local nursing homes. She diligently loved and trained her family to live by God's commandment to "Love one Another". She always demonstrated the fruit of the spirit showing love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. A Christian acronym for Lorene is: love others rich enjoyment never ending. This fits her: She was a great Mom and a faithful Christian. It is well with her soul. Some day, we will all be reunited according to God's plan. A heartfelt thank you goes out to the Alzheimer's Unit at Mission Arch Care Center. They not only gave Mom the care she required but cradled it with love, compassion, tenderness and extended these courtesies to the family members as well.
