Mike Salmon Sosa

Our beloved son, brother, husband and grandfather left us to follow Jesus on Sunday, May 7, 2017. Mike passed away in Amarillo, TX, surrounded by his loved ones. Mike was born July 17, 1948, in Carlsbad, NM, to his beloved parents, Raymond and Lupe Salmon Sosa of Roswell, NM. He served in the US Army, then went on to serve in the US Navy. He married the love of his life, Mary Valdez Sosa on March 20, 1971. Mike was a very loving and caring person who loved to joke around with his loved ones. There was always a very special place in Mike’s heart for his brothers, sisters, nephews and nieces. He had a nickname for all of us. Mike was a Dallas Cowboys fan. If you were in trouble, he had a prayer or scripture from the Bible to help you out. Mike will be dearly missed by his family and all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Valdez Sosa; loving son, Eric (Michele) Sosa of Amarillo, TX; grandson, Michael Wayne (Bayli) Sosa; granddaughters: Rayne Sosa and Kristiana Sosa; great-grandchildren: Waydon Sosa, Epiphany Sosa, Liliana Sosa all of Amarillo, TX; parents: Raymond (Lupe) Sosa of Roswell, NM; brothers and sisters: Lydia Trujillo (Ramiro), Robert (Rosa) Sosa, Raymond (Sally) Sosa, Mary Sosa, Nadiene Hurtado; numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, great-great-nephews, and great-great-niece. Additional survivors include in-laws: Joe Valdez, Richard Lucero, Virgil Lucero; nephews: Little Joe Lucero and David Lucero. He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Nick & Isabel Sosa and Espitacion & Clarista Salmon; in-laws: Samuel & Josephine Valdez and Paul & Annie Lucero; a very special niece, Betty Jo Lynda Trujillo; nephew, John Paul Hurtado; a very special aunt/grandma, Manuela Garcia and her son’s. 23rd Psalm The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures. He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul. He leadeth me in the path of righteousness for His name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for Thou art with me Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies; Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. When we would leave, his blessings were “Vaya Con Dios.” Now it is our turn to say, “Vaya Con Dios.” This tribute was written in honor of Mike by his family.
