Nona McClain Bohanon Stroshine

Nona Vivian McClain Bohanon Stroshine was born April 18, 1942 to Austin Avis and Marie Agnes (Pack) McClain in Roswell, New Mexico. Services are scheduled for Sunday, August 12, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home. Nona was born the third of seven children. She was preceded in death by her parents, her second husband, Arnold W. Stroshine, sister Wanda Faye McClain, brother Austin Dwayne McClain, brother-in-law J.W. Weldon, great-nephew Sgt. Christopher Sanders, an infant grandson and granddaughter Amanda Brown. She is survived by her sisters, Shirley Ann Weldon of Roswell, and Verna (Ron) King of El Paso, Texas, as well as her brothers Magistrate Judge Charles W. (Vicky) McClain of Dexter, New Mexico, and Jeffrey L. McClain of Roswell. Nona was blessed from her first marriage to William Bohanon, Sr. of Roswell, by four children, son William Bohanon, Jr. and wife Diana, granddaughters Melissa (Randall) and Tori (Jackie), and great-granddaughters Leila and Kaitlyn, [and one more on the way!] all of Big Spring Texas; daughter Natalie Steele and husband Bill, and their children Nathan and Alexandra Steele of Roswell; son Robbie Bohanon of Roswell, and granddaughters Jerycha Bohanon, and Daryl (Joey) Owen, and great-grandson Levi Owen all of California; and daughter Kimberly Graves and husband Daniel, granddaughters Kaylyn Blanchard, Andrea Norris, Haley Norris, Autumn Norris, Savannah Barnes, and great-granddaughter Madeleine Blanchard of Hagerman and Roswell. Nona also known as Nonie and "Aunty Donut" had many wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and cherished friends whom she loved with all of her heart. She was a very talented artist, who loved to paint pictures for her friends and relatives, go dancing, go to Vegas or other casinos, garden every foot of her back yard with a different plant or flower, and play with her grandchildren. Nona was proud of her Native American heritage and a member of the Cherokee tribe. Nona was also a proud member of the Roswell Eagles Lodge. Nona passed on to be with our Lord on Thursday, August 9, 2012, surrounded by her family on this earth, to once again see her family in the next. The family is very thankful to the care Nona received from her many caregivers, and a special thanks to those friends and relatives, near and far, who took time out of their busy lives to sit by her side in her last days, and for all of the prayers received from so very, very many.
