Services: There will be a private interment of ashes at First United Methodist Church Columbarium. As per Robert’s request, a celebration of life will take place on April 19, 2025, at the Princess Boutique, 200 E. McGaffey from 6PM-10PM. Robert Cardona was born to Valentine and Felicita Cardona on December 18,1948 in Roswell, NM. Robert is survived by his wife of 56 years, Virginia Warner Estrada, and his children, Stella Martinez (Jaime), Eric Cardona, Estanislada Cardona (Eric Carmona), and Rebecca Frazzini (Adam), his grandchildren, Camille Martinez, Daniel Cardona-Romero (Carla), Adonai Romero (Kaylee), Michael Cardona, Felicity Cardona, Elijah Cardona, Julianne Martinez Rogers (Dalton), Julianna Cardona, Ethan Cardona, Atalia Frazzini, Vivian Borroto, Emma Cardona, and Aria Frazzini as well as great-grandchildren, Athena Miriam Romero, Elias James Rae Rogers and Winnifred Estanislada Cardona-Romero. He is also survived by his brothers, Andy Cardona, LeRoy Cardona, and Mario Cardona as well as many nieces, nephews, and bonus grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Valentine and Felicita Cardona, his son Michael Cardona, brothers, Orlando, Tino, and Arnold Cardona, and his granddaughter Anna Marie Martinez. Robert graduated from Goddard High School and attended airplane mechanic school. He worked and retired from Southwestern Public Service Company (Xcel Energy) and worked at Kymera Independent Physicians after retirement. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, painting, crafting, professional tinkering, and playing cards with his children and grandchildren. He was also the handyman of many households. During his life he was greatly involved with Cub Scouts and was a Noon Optimist umpire, as well as referee and coach of other sports. He shared his labor and talents with the First United Methodist Church Missions team and was a former Board Member of Tabosa. Robert will be remembered for all of his greatest personal qualities. He was respectful, sarcastic, stubborn, charming, helpful, dependable, quite a jokester, and never met a stranger. He was “Papo” or Robert to everyone. A dear friend is quoted as saying, “One thing that I loved about your Papo was, if you were friends with anyone in his family you became part of his family.” Papo will be greatly missed. Thank you to many of the people that supported the family during this time. Special thank you to Kymera Independent Physicians and Lovelace Hospital Radiology and Emergency. A private Interment will take place at the First United Methodist Church Columbarium. As per Robert’s request, a Celebration of Life will be held at Princess Boutique at 200 E. McGaffey on April 19, 2025, from 6PM-10PM. Contributions can be made to Chaves County Cancer Fund, PO Box 193, Roswell, New Mexico 88202, or to the Cowboy Bell Scholarship Fund at First United Methodist Church, 200 N. Pennsylvania.
