Rose Mary Hopper

Rose Mary Hopper passed away peacefully at the age of 65, in her home on October 29, 2016. Rose Mary was born on March 7, 1951 in Roswell, NM. She graduated from Roswell High School in 1971 and was a lifelong resident of Roswell. She was a member of Christ Church. Rose Mary was preceded in death by her former husband Lloyd Gerald Chipps, parents, Amable Jose and Margaret Torrez, and twin sister, Juanita Josephine Torrez. Rose Mary is survived by her husband Jimmie Hopper of Roswell, daughter, Margaret Sanchez Stuart and husband Phillip of Beaumont, TX, and daughter, Carla Sanchez and Husband Phillip Rodriguez of Roswell, grandchildren, Gabriela Janet Quintero and Phillip Ernest Rodriguez Jr. both of Roswell, sister, Cecilia Romero and husband Max of Roswell, nephews, Paul and Orlando Romero, both of Albuquerque, NM, and numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins. Rose Mary is also survived by longtime friends Linda Olsen of Wilmington, CA, Juanita Hernandez of Roswell, Angelina Quintero of Roswell, Vickie Quintero of Roswell, and Cleofas Quintero “Grandma Coy” of Roswell, and Susanne Roberts of Roswell. When Rose Mary first met Jimmie, she asked him, “Do you want to sit with me?” Jimmie replied, “Sure.” After a few minutes Rose Mary asked, “Do you want to be my boyfriend?” Jimmie also replied, “Sure.” They have been together since 2006 and married at Christ Church on June 5, 2013. Rose Mary enjoyed reading, jigsaw puzzles, playing with her grandchildren, and loved listening to Oldies music. She also loved to dance and enjoyed attending family gatherings. Rose Mary was always young at heart and had a smile that would light up any room. She loved the latest trends, electronics, and had an extensive collection of Betty Boop. Rose Mary volunteered at the Salvation Army Thrift store and volunteered as a bell ringer for the Salvation Army Red Kettle Christmas Campaign for many years. Rose Mary’s Family would like to thank Jessica Ruiz with Comfort Keepers, Glen, Frances, Kimberly, and Chaplain Ed from Gentiva Hospice, Pastor Lonnie Owens from Christ Church, and longtime best friend Susanne Roberts who was always kind and supportive throughout their friendship. There will be a Graveside Service on Wednesday, 10:00 November 2, 2016 at Southpark Cemetery, C street. Anderson Bethany Funeral Chapel is overseeing arrangements and Pastor Lonnie Owens from Christ Church will officiate eulogy.
