Sammie Marker-Esslinger

Sammie Marker Esslinger, passed away on September 1, 2015. She was born on April 18, 1966, to Jack and Sonja Marker, in Hobbs, NM. Sammie married Keith Esslinger on March 31, 2015, in Roswell. A medical assistant for 15 years. Sammie was an amazing mom (and dad), grandma (Pa), and wife. She was the funniest, outgoing, loving and hard-working woman you would have ever had the honor to meet. Never meeting a stranger, Sammie would do anything for anyone. She was a unique individual and if you knew her, no words could begin to describe the influence Sammie had on her friends and family. Preceding Sammie in death were her mother, Sonja Marker and sister, Beverly Mathews. Those left to carry on Sammie’s legacy are her; husband, Keith Esslinger; daughter, Tara Marker; stepson, Kennon Esslinger; granddaughter, the light of her life, Audrey Michelle Velez; and grandson, Samuel Jack Carreon; father, Jack Marker; siblings: Warren Marker, Ray Marker, Larry (Lead) Marker and Tracy Jo Wolfe. Surviving Sammie are her in-laws: Michael Carreon, Kenneth Esslinger and wife Mary, Glenn Esslinger and wife Sheila, Laurie Silvia, Donnie Matthews, David Wolfe, Patricia Marker, Shaubrey Metts, Glenda Holland and husband Lynn, Toni Sturdevant, and Roland Villarreal; nieces and nephews: Trey Matthews, Mark Matthews, Bobby Marker, Sonja Marker, Jessica Marker, Randy Heredia, Justin Marker, Tanner Marker, Dakota Marker, Kelli Marker, Kenneth Taylor, Jake Marker and Codie Williams. Also surviving Sammie are special friends: Dr. Boss and wife Seena, Mr. and Mrs. J Thomas, Mr. and Mrs. Hellums, Mr. and Mrs. Bell, Dr. Latimer and Mrs. Latimer, the entire staff at SCOR, Elks Lodge friends and family and Mr. and Mrs. Crawford. And countless other friends who all held a special place in Sammie’s heart. A funeral Service is scheduled on Saturday, September 5, 2015, 9:00 AM, at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lead Marker, Glenn Esslinger, Kennon Esslinger, Kenneth Taylor, Trey Matthews and Mark Matthews. A special thanks to Gentiva Hospice, Kymera Cancer Center, Dr. Martinez and staff and Dr. Richardson. In closing a special note from her granddaughter, who had a very special bond with her grandma. “I love you and miss you Pa. You were the best grama in the world! Pa you were so loving, too. Hey, don’t worry the 49ers will have a new quarterback. You were so pretty, and you still are. The family is all taking care of all of your stuff. I love you way too much to be true.
