Obituary for Tom Homer Tyler Memorial services for Tom Homer Tyler, 75, of Roswell, will be held at 11 am, Saturday, July 18, 2009 at Tabernacle Baptist Church with Geary Miller officiating. Tom Homer Tyler passed from this life Monday, July 13, 2009 at Trigg Memorial Hospital in Tucumcari, NM. Tom was born in Grand Quevera, NM., on February 26, 1934 to Thurman and Goldie Tyler. He married Elnoria Brewton on April 4, 1954. Tom and Elnoria had four children, three sons and one daughter. He later married Penny Patnode in 1976 in Roswell. They had nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Tom was a Brick mason from the age of 17 until he retired, he also worked in construction and as a rough neck on oil rigs all over the Texas and New Mexico area. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and all around outdoorsman. He loved to camp, fish and spend time at the Rio Grande River with his sons, nephews and family. He worked hard all his life and put his whole heart into everything he did. He spent time as a Deacon at Salt Creek Baptist Church in the 50’s and 60’s. Tom is survived by one daughter; Linda Henington of Roswell, three sons; Tom Allen Tyler of Roswell, Richard Tyler and his wife Debbie of Magnolia, Tx. and Jerry Wayne Tyler of Roswell, seven grandchildren; Trish, Ray Dean, Ricky, Dusty, Preston, Shannon and Jeremy, four sisters; Mary Rogers of Roswell, Maudie Mahan and her husband Babe of Roswell, Callie Herring of Fort Sumner, and Annie Stroble and her husband Chuck of Roswell, two brothers; Aubrey Tyler and his wife Martha of Cloudcroft and Donald Tyler and his wife Joan of Roswell, one sister-in-law; Barbara Tyler of Roswell, one brother –in-law; Kalin Ketchell of Roswell, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family would also like to thank Kelly and Pat Smith of Tucumcari for being such kind and caring friends to Tom in his last years. Tom was preceded in death by both parents, Harrell and Earl Tyler, two sisters; Lou Etta Hignight and Iona Ketchell, two grandchildren; Christian and Amanda, one son-in-law; Tracy Henington, three brothers-in-law; James Hignight, Buddy Rogers and Kildee Herring, two sisters-in-law; Ethel and Denise Tyler.
