Wanda Duncan

Wanda was born on June 19, 1931, to Albert Clark Marshall and Dollie Irene (Karins) Marshall in Poteau, OK. Both parents precede her in death along with her brothers and sisters; William, Fredia, Edith, Illene, Albert and Hershall. Also preceding her in death were her two granddaughters: Gia Marie Moretto and Dawn Moretto. Wanda graduated from Cameron High School in 1949 and came to California to visit her sister “Edie”. It was during this visit she met and fell in love with Charles “Ron” Duncan and they married on November 25, 1949, residing in Los Angeles. Surviving Wanda are her husband, Ron; daughter, Reann Moretto (Renato “Mo”) all of Roswell; son, Chuck Duncan of Seattle, WA; grandchildren: Angela (Bruce) Raabe of Las Vegas, NV, Rob Moretto (Kyongo “Ronny”) of Albuquerque, Brian Duncan (Kayleigh) of San Francisco, Nicole Duncan of Seattle, WA, and Lindsay (Tim) Eresman of Modesto, CA. Additionally surviving Wanda are her great-grandchildren: Justin Crum (Tiffany) of Roswell, Vito, Gia, Hauna and Maria Moretto of Albuquerque, Dominique (Brandon) Stoker of Johnstown, CO. and Ayla Eresman of Modesto, CA.; great-great-grandchildren: Daijah and Rory Crum of Roswell, Ryder, Mason, Bella and Lennox Stoker of Johnstown, CO; and one brother, Earl Marshall of Lake Havasu City, AZ. Wanda retired from the California Department of Corrections as a Correctional Sergeant. After her retirement, she was very involved in volunteering at several hospitals, Eastern Star and Beta Sigma Phi in California. When she moved to Roswell, she continued Beta Sigma Phi membership with her sorority sisters of Laureate Alpha lota and the Assistance League of Chaves County. Wanda enjoyed reading, knitting, all crafts, playing the piano and her organ. She loved her family so much and they were her focus in life. If any of her family members needed her, she was there for them. One of her favorite sayings was “Families are forever and this is what families do for each other”. Family events, whether large or small were her joy. She impacted each one of us daily with her love, strength, support and sharing. In her family’s eyes, she was larger than life, softer in spirit and generous with her love, always! Wanda’s celebration of her life will be held at the Anderson Bethany Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, March 21, 2016, at 2:00 PM. A reception will follow at Sierra Fire Department, Fire Station #1 located at 603 S Brown Road, Roswell NM. Obituary lovingly written by Wanda’s family.
