Wilfred "Will" Eugene Gilmore

Wilfred “Will” Eugene Gilmore, 88, of Roswell, New Mexico, has gone to his Heavenly Home, no doubt smiling as he heard, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant, thou hast been faithful over a few things, will make Thee Ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.” Matthew 25:21. Will passed away peacefully at his home in Roswell, surrounded by his family, following a courageous battle with an illness on Thursday, January 24, 2019. Services: There will be a Viewing and Visitation at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 30, 2019, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Family and friends will gather for a Funeral Service Celebration of Wilfred’s purpose driven life at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home on Thursday, January 31, 2019, at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery. Will was born on the family farm in Barkeyville, Venango County, Pennsylvania, on November 11, 1930. He always enjoyed his birthday falling on Armistice Day, a school holiday. Will was the fourth son to the late Walter and Bernice Gilmore. In 1948, Will met his wife, Tootie, of sixty-nine years, Tootie was riding her bike, Will was on his Cushman motor scooter. He aided her effort up the hills, pulling her bike with his scooter. On September 30, 1949, they were married in Catlettsburg, Kentucky. While serving in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, Will was called to active duty in 1950, due to the Korean War. He served in Germany, then returned to Pennsylvania. Following the birth of his daughters, Debbie, Barbara, and Marylee, the family moved to Foreman, Arkansas, in 1958. Will worked as a powerhouse maintenance operator at a cement plant. In 1960, the family moved to Roswell, New Mexico, where David was born. Will worked for Transwestern Pipeline, including four years at the Mountainaire Pumping Station, with the rest of his twenty-five years spent based in Roswell. Will retired and remained in Roswell. Friends and family will remember Will as an honest, selfless, patient, kind, humble, joyful, always there, hero, smiling, Mr. fix it, creative, giving, good storyteller, full of grace, helping others, innovative, and resourceful. His numerous projects and handy work leave behind reminders of Will’s thoughtfulness, hard work, and love. Will’s Christian faith sustained him throughout his life's journey on earth. Preceded: Wilfred is preceded in death by his grandsons, Dylan Davis and Blake Keddrell; parents, Walter and Bernice Gilmore; and brothers: Charles (Bette), Donald (Mary), and Glenn. Pallbearers: Chosen to serve as Pallbearers will be Darrell Davis, Darren Davis, Justin Wassil, Alec Keddrell, Thomas Zens, and John Bullock.
