Dan Earl Evans

Dan was born in Lake Arthur, NM, on May 9, 1939, to Ruth and Alton Bruce Evans. He graduated in 1957. Dan was drafted into the United States Army in April 1962 and served his country until 1968. He returned to Lake Arthur and helped his mom and dad in their service station and café for several years. Dan married Geraldine (Gerri) Fron in 1971, and she preceded him in death in 2015. While residing in Lake Arthur, Dan served as mayor for ten years. He was also a member of the Lake Arthur volunteer Fire Department of thirty-five years and served as Chief of ten years of those years. Dan was a contract Operator and drove his school bus for the Lake Arthur schools for twenty-six years, retiring in 1998 from the School District. Dan and Gerri moved to Roswell that same year. SERVICES: A Mass will be held at Assumption Catholic Church on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at 1:30 PM and will be laid to rest in the Columbarium at the same location following the service. SURVIVED: Dan is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Ginny Evans; brother-in-law, Don Carter; sister-in-law, Trudy Evans; and numerous nieces and nephews. PRECEDED: Dan was preceded in death by his mother and father, a sister, Patsy Carter, and two brothers, Gerald (Jerry) and Robert (Bob).
