Memorial services for Ethel Doris “Richey” Reaser will be held on Sat. January 11, 2014 at 11 AM in the Chapel at the Sunset Church of Christ 3723 34th Street, Lubbock, Texas. Flowers can be sent at the Chapel at Sunset Church of Christ. Our dear sweet Mother, Ethel Doris ”Richey” Reaser, went to her eternal home in heaven on Wednesday, January 1, 2014. Doris was born March 10, 1922 to Lenard and Ethel Richey in Sabinal, Texas in Uvalde County. Doris was a joyful, sweet Christion woman, who touched all she meet with her sweet happy spirit. She attended Abilene Christian College, in Abilene, Texas and Harding Christian College in Searcy, Arkansas where she meet her true love, James Patton”Pat” Reaser whom she married in Houston, Texas in 1945. They soon moved their family to Arlington Texas where she was a homemaker and taught Special Education, and she loved the children she worked with. Doris and her family moved from Texas to Long Island , New York in 1963 .They were involved with the “Exdous Bayshore Movement”; to do Mission work for the Church of Christ on Long Island. They soon opened their home as “Foster Parents” and raised a sibling group of five children. Doris was a wonderful homemaker who enjoyed cooking for her large family and friends. Doris was always an active member in the Church of Christ and involved in any community she lived in. Doris always reflected her trust and faith in God to others by example by her loving and caring manner. Doris loved the Mission Field and loved the Lord so much and wanted to share her faith by having Bible Studies in her home. Her new friends in New York loved her and always thought of her as their sweet friend from Texas. Doris and her husband, Pat Reaser moved back to Lubbock, Texas in 1985 where she was member of Sunset Church of Christ. Doris loved being back in Texas and closer to her family. Doris became involved in volunteer work at the University Medical Center and the Lubbock County Extension Club and Lubbock Christian University County Fair Booth. After the death of her husband she surround herself with family and friends and traveled many exciting places. Doris lived in Rio Rancho, NM where she attended the Rio Rancho Church of Christ and she made many friends there. Doris moved to Roswell, NM to live with her daughter, Trina in 2005 where she became involved at the Chaves County Joy Center Adult Day Care Program. Doris loved her friends and staff there, and spend many hours playing Dominos. Doris is survived by her daughter, Trina L. Brown of Roswell, NM, a son, David M. Reaser and his wife, Becky of Rockwall, TX; and daughter Lura M. Paden and her husband Ted of Rio Rancho, NM; Doris is also survived by six grandchildren, Tasha Pope of Denton , Texas; Scott, Danny and Gabe Paden of Rio Rancho, NM, and James and Lura Reaser of Garland, Texas. She is also survived by seven great - grandchildren. Doris is also survived by her sister, Patricia Travis of Bryan , Texas.
