Federico "Fred" Nunez

June 30, 1931 - January 26, 2022

Federico (Fred) Nunez, 90, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family Wednesday, January 26, 2022 in Midway, NM. On June 30,1931 Fred was born to Clara Gallegos and Camilo Nunez in Roswell, NM. He grew up working on a ranch and local farms with his brother. He married the love of his life Rosa Montoya on April 16, 1949. Together they had 8 children, 4 girls and 4 boys. Prior to retirement Fred worked for the Chaves County Road Department for 55 years. Fred loved to sing, dance, and joke with his family. He was always telling stories of the great life he lived and of all his crazy hunting stories. He will be missed by his family and friends. Fred was preceded in death by his parents Clara Gallegos and Camilo Nunez; sisters Mela Trujillo, Maria Sedillo, Carlotta Dutchover, Chepa Gamboa, and Cecilia Campos; brothers Natividad Nunez and Walter Sutherland; grandsons Nikki Montoya and Frankie Samario. He leaves behind his wife, Rosa; 8 children Freddie (Sylvia) and their children Jolene, Carrie, and Brandon, Bobby (late wife Angie) and their children Ryan, Olivia, and Jeremy, Lorena (late husband Greg) and their children Sandra, Johnny, and Rene, Lillian (Roy) and their children Kristine and Anthony, Martha (Dennis) and their children Stephanie, Austin, and Gabriel Camilo (Melissa) and their children Camille, Camilo, Krista, Michael, Clarissa, and Nate, Mary and her children Joshua, Jessica, and Dona, Eddie (Norma) and their children Erik, Vanessa, Kayla, Robbie, and Victoria, as well as 3 generations of great grandkids. Honored to serve as Pallbearers are grandsons Gabriel Samario, Nathan Esquibel, Xavier Valdez, Joshua Nunez, Austin Edwards and Erik Nunez.
