On May 28, 1932, Geneva was born in Roswell, New Mexico, to Armando Gonzalez and Geneva Montoya. She resided in Roswell, New Mexico, at the time of her passing. Geneva was the beloved wife of Abraham Guevara, who preceded her in death prior to his passing in 2016, she shared over sixty-six beautiful years with her soulmate and partner for life. She was a wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. Geneva was a stay-at-home mother and loved to cook her famous tamales and chili to everyone who came to visit her during the Christmas holidays. She loved to laugh and tell stories around the kitchen table to her family and friends. Geneva was a compassionate person and always ready to give a helping hand to her family. We all received the blessing from my Mom before traveling on the road or departing from her house. All her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren were blessed with the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, and God be with you as her hands did the sign of the cross on our foreheads, and then she would seal it with a kiss. We received that blessing before leaving her home. It was bittersweet, for the words spoken would forever be embedded into our hearts for all eternity. Our Mother had a strong belief in God and His protection over her family as we traveled to and from her house. God, continue to give us, her family, comfort as we say our final goodbye. For it is for a season for the promises of God to hold us together as we grieve for the loss of our Mother. Until we meet again, her prayers will continue to guide us home with God’s Protection. For a Mother’s Love never ends, and it continues to linger deep within our souls the unique gift of her unselfish love. God bless you, Mom, and may you walk on the streets of Gold and continue dancing in the moonlight with Daddy as you dance the final dance. We love you with all our heart and soul. We rejoice knowing God held your hand, walking you into the pearly gates of heaven. We will miss her and forever love the many blessings she gave to her family as she loved her family with all her heart. We are heartbroken, but God has called you home forever in HIS ARMS!!!! Rest in eternal peace. We will always love you Mommy..... Geneva was a loving mother to her children: daughter Carmen and husband John Atilano; son Abraham Guevara Jr; son Rudy Guevara (Jane Orona); daughter Veronica Betty Guevara; daughter Linda “Annie” Guevara (Ruben Matta); daughter: Lupe and husband, Robert Contreras. Geneva was an amazing grandmother to seventeen grandchildren, forty-eight great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. She always had an open heart for all children, regardless of whether they were family or not. To her, they were all her family. She was a loving and attentive sister to her brothers: Benny Gonzales and Jimmy Gonzales; sister, Lucy Orona; as well as many nephews and nieces. We will miss her and will forever love her and the memories that she gave each and every one of us in her lifetime. Geneva was preceded in death by her husband, Abraham Guevara; and her grandson, Abraham Guevara Jr. III (Abey).
