Israel Romero Salas

Israel Romero Salas peacefully passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2021, at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center in Roswell, NM. On June 7, 1970, Israel was born in Roswell, NM, to Ramon (Quate) and Aurora Salas. He was known to family and friends as “Rilo” and known to his grandkids as “Papa Salas”. Israel was the heart and soul of the family. He always had a smile on his face, always made everyone laugh and would be there for anyone that needed him no matter the circumstance. Papa Salas was the best papa to his grandkids. He loved each one unconditionally. He loved all his kids very much and would give anything to help them out. Israel was an avid Greenbay Packers Fan. His favorite saying for anything football was "It ain't easy being cheesy" He enjoyed coaching baseball, football, shooting guns with his boys, and playing golf. Israel enjoyed being outdoors the most. His chickens were everything to him and he made the backyard feel like home for them. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 11 years, Dolores L. Salas; sons: Vincent M. Salas and wife Presilla Salas, Jacob I. Salas, Johnnie C. Pineda, Matthew D. Salas; daughters: Jaida C Chavez, Zoe R Thompson; grandchildren: Keanu Salas, Jaylyn Salas, Landen Salas, Meiko Salas, Nicholas Salas, Ava Pineda, Lukas Salas, Aurora Pineda; father, Ramon Salas (Rita); siblings: Vivian Flores (Ralph), Carmen Salas, Merlin Quintanilla, Chris Salas, Floyd Salas (Luis), Bernice Salas (Ruben), Carlos Salas, Melissa Ramirez, Lisa Ramirez and Arthur Ramirez; as well as many numerous nieces and nephews. Israel is preceded in death by his mother, Aurora Salas; brother Freddie Salas; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Salas and Brenda Melton; brother-in-law, Roland Quintanilla; nephew, Artie Chacon; and niece, Genesis Perez. Pallbearers are Vincent Salas, Jacob Salas, Johnnie Pineda, Matthew Salas, Jaida Chavez, and Zoe Thompson. Honorary Pallbearers are Ruben Pineda, Carlos Salas, Sam Salas, Ralph Flores, Luis Torres, Ben Love, Ruben Peso, and John Brinning. A Viewing is to be held at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home on Monday, November 8, 2021, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, with a Rosary to follow at 1:30 pm, then a Funeral Service to follow at 2:00 pm.
