Janet Toy passed away peacefully at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center as she went to be with our Lord and Savior on January 8, 2022. Janet was born in Clear Lake, Iowa to Ansel Briggs and Norine Hass Robertson on January 29, 1939. When Janet was a child her family moved to Tucumcari, New Mexico. Her parents owned a shoe store, where she worked from her teens until she was an adult. She graduated from Tucumcari High School in 1957. She was employed by the Pow Wow Inn in Tucumcari for several years as night auditor. She was an accomplished Artist as well as being the curator of the Horizons West Art Gallery in T or C, New Mexico. She was last employed for many years at the law firm of Weldon & Hass in Santa Barbara, California. Janet was a great seamstress. Her hobbies included sewing and reading. She loved to read and avidly read thousands of books. She was well versed in several other trades but art and horses were her true passions. Janet is survived by her daughter Dianne and her husband Eddie Sills, of Gardendale, Texas; Grandsons: Michael and Codie Sills of Texas; Granddaughters: Wendy Hamar of New Mexico and Amberly and Chris Reyna of Texas; 10 great grandkids and 6 great, great grandkids and cousins, one cousin in particular, that she was very close with and depended on was Mike Hass. She is preceded in death by her parents Ansel Briggs and Norine Robertson, her son John Briggs Toy and three great granddaughters. Janet had such a big, giving heart. She loved her family and always put them first. She wanted so much for her grandkids, great grandkids and great, great grandkids. Everyone that met her was blessed for having done so. Honorary Pallbearers: Mike Hass, Gifford Crowe, Todd Hass, Chris Reyna, Sam Hamar and Gabe Sanchez Janet was loved by many and will be dearly missed by everyone. Details about her Celebration of Life service will be posted at a later time. Janet's tribute was written in her honor by her family.
