Manuel S. Prieto

Manuel S. Prieto, 87, passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, in Roswell, NM. Please take a moment and share a kind thought or memory with Manuel’s family at www.andersonbethany.com. There will be a visitation on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, followed by a Rosary at 6:00 PM. A funeral service will be Thursday, April 14, 2022, at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home at 10:00 AM. Cremation will follow the services. On March 3, 1935, Manuel was born to Francisco and Ysabel Prieto in Candelaria, Texas. Though he had minimal education, he helped his siblings to graduate and to have a better life. At the age of twenty-eight, Manuel met his sweetheart and they married on March 16, 1963. They have been together for fifty-nine years, which they celebrated this year. He was blessed with five children who have thought of him as an extraordinary man. Manuel also saw all his children graduate high school and college, along with his grandchildren, he was immensely proud. During his life, he worked various labor jobs enjoying every one of them. Manuel loved old western movies, Mexican Rancheras, Mexican music, and singing and playing his guitar. He loved life and joked around. Anyone who met Manuel left with laughter, a smile, and food in their stomachs. Though he will be missed by his family and friends, he will be remembered and loved for the joy brought to life for all. Manuel will be missed by his family and friends. Those left to eternally treasure and cherish memories of Manuel are his wife, Francisca P. Prieto; children: Elizabeth P. Montoya, Angelina Prieto and husband LC Weathersby, Louis F Prieto and wife Cynthia Siller de Prieto, Rosemarie Prieto, Patricia Prieto de Sanchez, and Rosa R. Perez, Melinda Natividad and husband Robert Spear; grandchildren: Robert D. Jr. and wife Sarah H. Avalos, Virginia L. and husband Ryan Pedigo, Mercedes A. Prieto, Guadalupe H. Gonzales and husband David W. Gonzales, Michealla N. Montoya, Tomas J. J. L. Sanchez III, Angel-Marie, AJG Sanchez, Arabela JCM Sanchez, Michael Montoya, Jacob Montoya, and Dominic Spear; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Tomasa P. Raimo; as well as many nieces and nephews. Manuel is preceded in death by his father and mother Francisco and Ysabel S. Prieto; and sisters: Maria P. Pena and Daria P. Perez. The family of Manuel wishes to extend sincere thanks to Alsida Aguilar, Janet Soto, familia Guzman, Sigala family, and Gonzalez family, Midway Community, and all the staff at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center, Anderson Bethany Funeral Home, and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
