Mary Lee Hernandez

Mary Lee Hernandez passed away on Friday, June 9, 2017, at her home surrounded by the love of the family. Memorial Services for Mary Lee (Dobbs) Hernandez, 66, of Roswell, NM, will be held at Aldersgate Methodist Church, 10:00 AM, on Saturday, June 17, 2017. Rev. Jim Bignell will be officiating. On January 26, 1951, Mary was born to Andy Dobbs and Jewel Louise (Byrd) Dobbs in Farmington, NM. She and James Hernandez; who precedes her in death, were married here in Roswell, NM, on October 25, 1968. Mary loved to be creative, she made ceramics, leather and wood burning art, drawing and painting. She had a passion for the outdoors and loved camping with her children and grandchildren. Mary had the most generous loving heart. Whether people needed a place to stay, food to eat or just someone to talk to, Mary was always there. She enjoyed listening to music, and really enjoyed country music. Those left to cherish Mary’s memory are her daughters: Angela Kellogg and husband, Michael of Clarksvill, TN, Laura Hernandez of Roswell, NM; Rose Hernandez of Roswell, NM, Theresa Steinke and husband, Jason of Roswell, NM; nineteen grandchildren: Andrea, Melissa, Kyle, Dylan, Danielle, Christina, John, Matthew, Anthony, Elizabeth, Megan, Christopher, Timothy, William, Adele, Erin, Madison, Jason II, David; sixteen great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Eliza Hernandez; sister, Carol Olafson; brothers: Doug Dobbs, Gary Dobbs, Dewey Dobbs, Buddy Leeson; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, James Hernandez, Mary was also preceded in death by her son, Christopher James Hernandez; father, Andy; mother, Jewel; granddaughter, Laurie Ann Alvarez; sisters: Kathy Biery, Betty Armes; nephew, Michael Joe Hernandez; and niece, Kimberly Evans. “Mom, your girls are truly going to miss you. We are thankful we had the time we did with you. You were there to see us take our first breaths, and we were there when you took your last. Until we see you again. We love you always.” Love, your girls. This tribute was lovingly written in honor of Mary by her family.
