Rennie Ervin Carrillo, 43, of Phoenix, AZ, passed away on September 29th, 2021, in Phoenix, AZ. Please take a moment to share a kind thought or memory with Rennie’s family at www.andersonbethany.com. Funeral Services will be held at 9:30 A.M. on Monday, October 11th, 2021, at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home. Burial will follow at General Douglas L. McBride Veteran’s Cemetery. Rennie was born in Roswell, NM, to Catherine (Carrillo) Madrid and Domingo Gomez on December 4th, 1977. Rennie attended Monterrey Elementary, Mountain View Middle School, and graduated from Roswell High School in Roswell, NM. Rennie was married to his wife Connie Carrillo, also known as Toni, in April of 2002 in Jacksonville, FL. Rennie graduated from Roswell High School as part of the Class of 96. Rennie had a long and successful career in the financial services industry, holding positions with notable companies such as Capital One and T-Mobile. Rennie most recently worked for Discover for just under 8 years. While at Discover, Rennie began as an underwriter for Discover Personal Loans before progressing to Discover Home Loans to support functions related to evaluating, approving, and denying consumer mortgage residential applications in accordance with company guidelines. Rennie’s work family at Discover loved him for being a genuine, funny, and selfless coworker, while valuing his many achievements and extensive contributions to the firm. They will miss him dearly. Mr. Carrillo, as he often referred to himself, was a proud United States Navy Veteran. Rennie proudly and honorably served 5 years of active duty as an Aviation Electrician’s mate and successfully fulfilled an obligation of 5 years in the United States Navy Reserves. Among the accolades Rennie received during his active duty in the Navy are the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon(3), NATO Medal (Yugoslavia), Good Conduct Medal, NATO Medal (Kosovo), Kosovo Campaign Medal, and Overseas Service Ribbon, among others. Rennie was honorably discharged from the Navy in December 2001. Rennie was a simple man with a heart of gold. He was a selfless individual who always made sure others were good before he was. He was always positive, treated everyone like family, and made them feel welcome. In his free time, Rennie was a dedicated Las Vegas Raiders and Los Angeles Lakers fan. Rennie enjoyed seeing everyone succeed, and was everyone’s biggest cheerleader on social media. He was always the first one to tell you good job, or happy birthday. Rennie loved grilling by the pool for his girls, and loved grilling for anyone and everyone in general. If you were close to him, you definitely have seen one of his cold beer on the hot grill pics. Rennie liked to enjoy a frosty 40oz to help with rigors of adult life on occasion, and help cool off in the Arizona heat. He also enjoyed playing Xbox online with his family and friends, visiting his Navajo Nation family, watching UFC fights, lowriders, and watching and going to the movies with his family. Most of all, Rennie loved being a dad and Grandpa Ren Dawg. He was always in the stands cheering his daughters on during events like volleyball, cheerleading, and soccer. Rennie was a proud grandpa who was always showing off his grandkids and talking about them any chance he got. Rennie’s girls want everyone to know he was the best dad to them, and they love him very much and will miss him. Rennie is preceded in death by his grandmother, Maxine Carrillo, and grandfather Urbano Carrillo. Rennie is survived by his wife, Connie (Toni) Carrillo, of Phoenix, AZ, son Adrian and his wife Emily of Fort Bragg, NC; daughter Elizabeth (Lizzy) of Socorro, NM; daughters, Brianna (Hurby), Angie, Gabby; ex-wife Maria Ortiz of Las Cruces, NM; grandchildren Anastasia, Eric, and Melody; brothers Ronnie Madrid and his wife Krystal of San Antonio, TX; Adam Madrid and his wife Leanne of Roswell, NM; Trinidad Gomez; Domingo Gomez; sister Renee Gomez Atole; nieces Savannah, Sophia, Leah, and Ella; mother Catherine Madrid of Roswell, NM; best friend and brother from another mother Jeff Palma of San Diego, CA; and numerous family members and friends. Pallbearers will be Adrian Carrillo, Ronnie Madrid, Adam Madrid, Jeff Palma, Arviso Casuse, Calhoun Zeena. Rennie’s tribute was written in his honor by his family.
