Richard "Ricky" Joseph Coronado

Richard “Ricky” Joseph Coronado, 58, passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2019, in Roswell, New Mexico. Services: There will be a Viewing at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home on Thursday, January 31, 2019, from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, followed by a Rosary at 6:00 PM. Family and friends will gather for a Mass at St. Peter’s Catholic Church on Friday, February 1, 2019, at 11:00 AM. Interment will be held at General Douglas L. McBride Veterans Cemetery on Saturday, February 2, 2019, at 10:00 AM. On August 6, 1960, Ricky, as he was known, was born to Albino and Floyde Coronado in Fort Sumner, New Mexico. When he was a small boy, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his dad. His dad taught him how to be a man. He loved working on cars and fixing things around the house with his dad. In 1979, Ricky graduated from Roswell High School, where he played football for the Roswell Coyotes. He later enlisted in the National Guard from 1980-1984. When Ricky got older, he continued the tradition of fishing, camping, and hunting. He always looked forward to hunting season with his cousin, Fred. Ricky helped raise his four nephews: Nick Guajaca, Richard Guajaca, Christopher Guajaca, and Matthew Guajaca. Prior to retirement, he worked at TMC/Nova Bus and as painter and welder for 23 ½ years. Ricky was most recently employed by Driveline. His favorite thing to do was watching his granddaughter, Anissa, play softball. Ricky loved going to her games and tournaments, and catching for her when she pitched to him. Anissa was the light of his world, his “baby girl.” He loved watching his New York Jets, listening to oldies, mostly, of course, his favorite rapper, Mc Magic. Ricky loved his many friends and family and also his collections of coins, tools, little gadgets, and treasure maps. He was a great uncle to his nephews and nieces. Rick had a special bond with every one of them. Ricky treasured his time spent with his mom and sisters. He will be profoundly missed by his family, friends, and everyone who had the opportunity to have met Ricky. Survivors: Those left to cherish memories of Ricky are his mother, Floyde Coronado; children, Camille Coronado (Chris Sanchez) and Matthew Guajaca (Vero); grandchildren: Anissa Munoz, Emanuel Sanchez, Ian Guajaca, and Eva Guajaca; sisters, Gloria Coronado and Angie Torres (Lupe); aunts, Crusita Portillo (Beto) and Molly Coronado; nephews: Victor Mendoza, Timothy Torres, and Michael De Santiago; nieces: Stephanie Sanchez and Jennifer Torres; great-nephew, Chris Torres, with whom he had a special bond; numerous extended family members and friends; and his loving pet Panson. Preceded: Ricky is preceded in death by his father, Albino Coronado; and grandparents: Melicio and Besenta Aragon, and Andres and Gertude Coronado.
