Dalinda Cantu

On August 24, 2023, Dalinda “Dolly” Cantu, our beloved daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and amazing friend passed away to be with the Lord. She was born to Dionicio Blanco Cantu and Arminda Gonzales Cantu on June 6, 1964, in Raymondville, Texas. Dolly graduated from Raymondville High School in May of 1982. She earned an associate degree from the Texas State Technical Institute in Harlingen, TX. She used this degree to work for Exxon for several years. She then earned a paramedic’s certificate that allowed her to work while she studied to become a nurse. After she received her nursing degree, from Odessa College. She worked as a nurse in West Texas and New Mexico for many years. Anyone that knew Dolly knew that nursing would be her calling. She loved people and she loved to serve people. Serving people was her passion. Nursing allowed her to turn her passion into her life’s work. Dolly was the kind of person you couldn’t help but love. In return, she loved you back with all her heart. Many people knew her for her kindness and for always helping others in need. She had an amazing sense of humor that would get a huge belly laugh from whoever she was with. Her adventurous spirit always had her moving forward towards her next outdoor destination to the world and stand in awe of its beautiful glory. Her family and friends would receive photos from her of the sights of her journey and she was so focused on witnessing God’s beauty that she would usually not include herself in these pictures. She will be sadly missed by so many but will always remain in our hearts. She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Manuel and Herlinda Cantu and maternal grandparents, Victor and Angelita Gonzales, and Aunt Rosie Cantu and Uncle Joe Cantu. She is survived by her parents, Dionicio and Arminda Cantu, her brother Victor (Rosalinda), her sister Amanda (Marc) Vasquez, her uncles: John (Estela) Cantu, Enrique (San Juanita), Robert (Phyllis) Cantu, Tomas Zepeda; her aunts: Gloria Flores and Tina Cantu; two nephews, Victor III and Logan, two nieces Victoria and Violet; and numerous cousins. The family of Dolly wishes to extend sincere thanks to Maria Villa-Torres and family for devoting countless hours to providing their support during this difficult time. We’d also like to thank the Villa-Torres family for the friendship they offered Dolly and the special bond she had with their grandson/son, KruzXi. He was her Godson and this past year they were inseparable. They loved to get into mischief together.
