Doris Sandifer

Doris Sandifer 66 passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2023 in the loving care of her daughter, and grandchildren at her home in Roswell, New Mexico. Funeral services for Doris will be held at Ware Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, 900 E Deming, Roswell, NM on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 11:00 AM with her nephew, Reverend Leonard Collins officiating. Her final resting place will be South Park Cemetery with loved ones. Doris was born to LD and Ada Ruth Sandifer May 8, 1957. She attended Roswell High School. Doris confessed the Lord at an early age while attending the Mount Gilead Baptist Church. The times that Doris resided in Roswell, she attended Mount Gilead, Missionary Baptist Church and Saint Paul ministries, and others. Doris was involved in the ministries of the church as well as around town. She was always ready to lend a hand, cook a meal (being an excellent cook ), or give from any means she had. Doris enjoyed visiting her friends, listening to gospel music, sending encouragements via messenger and picking up a bargain for someone at a yard sale. Prior to the failing of her health, Doris worked as a healthcare provider. Doris will be surly missed by her family and many friends. Doris leaves to fondly treasure and cherish her memories are : Daughter, Tasha Johnson, granddaughters, Sheziya Sandifer, Trechion Sandifer Johnson, great granddaughter, Indiya Ayree Sandifer Johnson, grandson , that she raised and who called her mom, KiAndre Harris. Siblings include sisters: Patricia (Clark) Free , Betty Thompson, Crystal (Anthony) Alford, Renee (Johnny) Wiley, and Stephanie Sandifer; five brothers, Jerry (Lorraine) Cox, James Sandifer, Marvin Sandifer, Ellis Sandifer, Dennis (Melissa) Warker; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Doris is preceded in death by her daughter Lakita Sandifer, son Seneca Coverdale, parents L D Sandifer Sr. and Ada Ruth Cox; five brothers, Bobby, Ernest, Billy Joe, LD II, Willie Lee, and three sisters, Annie, Ruby, and Jewel. Doris' family wishes to extend sincere thanks to hospice nurse Brenda , case worker Helen, and close friend Tamala Stewart Garcia. Doris’s tribute was written in her honor by her family.
