Gloria Fuentes

A rosary will be recited for Gloria Fuentes, 66, of Roswell at 7 pm Thursday, Feb. 1, 2007 at Anderson-Bethany Funeral Home. Graveside services for Gloria will be held at 10 am Friday, Feb. 2, 2007, at South Park Cemetery. Viewing for Gloria will begin at 12 noon Thursday. Gloria passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2007, at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center. A lifelong resident of Roswell, Gloria was born to Frank Martinez and Emma Nunez Martinez on May 18, 1940. She and Joe P. Fuentes were married in December of 1956; he survives her at the family home. Gloria was a devoted wife of fifty years. A wonderful dedicated mother, who treasured her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her faith in God enabled her to share her wisdom and knowledge as a teacher and mentor. Gloria was a pillar of strength to her spouse, children, grandchildren, siblings, and friends. Gloria was blessed with the ability to find the silver lining in any difficult situation turning it into a teaching moment. She was a very humble woman whose family and loved ones credit her with their accomplishments and successes. Her unexpected passing has left all those that loved her and knew her with the realization that we’ve all lost our guiding light. Gloria’s hobbies included gardening and antiquing. In addition to her loving husband, Joe, Gloria is survived by her children, Clara Ramirez and her husband, Sam, Freddy Fuentes and his wife, Olga, Nicky Fuentes and his wife, Mabel, Chris Fuentes and his wife, Juanita, Willie Fuentes and his fiancé, Lucille, Delphinia Nuanes of Albuquerque, Norma Fuentes, and Miranda Fuentes, both of Roswell; grandchildren, Andrea, Daniel Paul, Jesus, Freddy Jr., Sherri, Vanessa, Sara, Andrew, Ryan, and Audie; great-grandchildren, Mariah, Destiny, and Alaina; siblings, Elisa Archuleta, Effie Silva, Emilio Silva and his wife, Albertina, Danny Silva and his wife, Connie, Betty Grace Nunez, Manuel Silva, Cruz Silva and companion, Ginny, Julia Silva and Faustino Ortiz, Annie Silva, Richard Medina, Rita Levario, and Tiofilo Martinez; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Gloria was preceded in death by her dad, Frank Martinez, mom, Emma Silva, sister, Frances Madrid, brother, Jessie Silva, and nephew, Pedro Madrid Jr. Pallbearers will be Emilio Silva, Ray Farmer, Danny Silva, Freddy Fuentes Jr., Daniel Paul Fuentes, and Roger Guerra. Honorary pallbearers will be Andrew Aguilar, Ryan Nuanes, Ron Nuanes, Johnny Fuentes, and Robert Fuentes. The family will be receiving friends at 1505 W. Tilden.
