Guadalupe “Lupe” Gonzales Luevano Guadalupe Gonzales Luevano, known and loved by many as Lupe, entered eternal life on April 23, 2026. Lupe Luevano was born on September 7, 1948, to María Luisa Gonzales Luevano and Margarito Luevano. He grew up in Dexter, New Mexico, where he built lifelong roots and memories. He proudly graduated from Dexter High School in 1967. As the oldest of ten children, he carried a strong sense of responsibility, leadership, and love for his family from a very young age; qualities that stayed with him throughout his life. Lupe proudly served the United States Army as a Vietnam War veteran. His dedication and sacrifice reflect the strength and honor that defined who he was. He was born a Catholic and was an active member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, where his faith served as a guiding foundation throughout his life. He was kind, warm and loving. He had a special way of making people feel loved, calling everyone his “'hitos’ and ‘hitas’.” To him, no one was a stranger-everyone became family. When Lupe married his beloved wife, Margie, in June 1979, he not only gained a life partner but also became part of a large extended family who loved and embraced him: the Torres, Chavez, Valdez, Salas, Horton, and Mendiola families. He cherished these relationships and valued the love and connection they brought into his life. Lupe and Margie were blessed with many Godchildren. Lupe truly embodied the meaning of his baptismal promises, teaching his Godchildren to love God and each other. He cared for them with sincerity, supporting them in whatever way he could, and showed them how to trust in God. Until his very last day, he held firmly to his faith trusting in Gods promise of resurrection. Lupe is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Margarito and Maria Luisa Gonzales Luevano. His late wife, Lucy Regalado-Luevano, his sister, Gloria Luevano-Serrano, his sisters-in-law: Juanita Luevano, and Frances Montoya; his brothers: Luis Luevano, Cruz Luevano, Enrique “Henry” Luevano, Sr., Francisco “Kiko” Luevano, Sr.; nephews: Francisco “Kiko,” Jr., and Henry Luevano, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Margie (Torres) Luevano; his brothers: Mike Luevano; Lalo Luevano (wife Ruth); Raul Luevano (wife Velma); Margarito Luevano (fiancé Brandy); sisters-in-law: Sylvia Orosco-Luevano, Lisa Luevano, and Jeannie Luevano, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Lupe leaves behind a legacy built on family, faith, and courage. He will be truly missed by his family, friends, and everyone who had the honor of knowing him. Though he is no longer with us physically, his spirit and love will remain forever in our hearts. We would like to thank all our family & friends who were there for us through this journey. We especially would like to thank our Goddaughter Debbie Luevano, Nieces Tabatha & Tilly Salas & Angela Chavez who spent days and nights with us.
