Helen Ruth Cockrum

Helen Ruth Cockrum, 75, passed away at home peacefully on Saturday April 27, 2024, in Roswell NM. A Funeral Service will be held for Helen at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home and Crematory on May 11, 2024, at 11 am with Jack and Julie Ferguson officiating. Interment will follow at ACME Cemetery on Clovis highway. On May 15, 1948, Helen was born to Lola and Floyd George in Bakersfield, CA. As a child she moved to Roswell with her parents and three siblings. She attended East Grand Plains, Mesa Middle School, and Roswell High School. Helen later married Bobby Satterfield, with whom she had five daughters with. Helen enjoyed many things in life including sewing, gardening, thrifting, crafting, collecting purple amethyst antiques and spending time with her grandchildren. Helen was manager and league coordinator for Town and Country Bowling Lanes and Sun Country Convenient Store for many years in the 80s. Helen was a busy and hardworking Mother; she sold many different brands and a variety of items. She later went on to marry Floyd Cockrum, in May of 1994 and continued to enjoy her life with her family and friends. Helen will be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, grandmother, and friend. She loved to spend time with her family, playing games, camping, hunting/fishing, and dancing. She enjoyed cooking and baking for others, and many looked forward to her goodies during the holidays. She will also be remembered for her ionic cleansing business ReNew-U Detox therapy. Helen will be missed tremendously by her friends and family. Those left to eternally treasure and cherish memories of Helen are her sister, Patty George; five daughters: Brenda, Ronda, Shawnna, Tamara, and Sharla; eighteen grandchildren: Cody and Elisa Townsend, Heather Powell, Jasmine Powell, Amber and Dwight Kincaid, Casey and Angela Sopher, Brandon and Monica Spicer, Kristen and Jeremy Freeman, Kyla Satterfield, Jacob Spicer, Savannah Duran, Genevieve and Joseph Lucero, Connor Coats, Lealund Coats, Garik Cockrum, Kyle Cockrum, and Megan Cockrum; great-grandchildren: Katelyn and Natalie Townsend, Joseph, Emily and Knowah Lopez, Brooke, Brylee and Brydon Graves, Liliana Shelton, Haley, Mariah and Leeland Sopher, Tatum and Wesley Kincaid, Hudson, Lincoln and Iris Freeman, Luke Lodoza, and Lyric Lucero and Drew Graves. Helen is preceded in death by her parents: Floyd and Lola George, five brothers: Orville George, Delbert George, Gordon George, Clifford George, John George, and one sister, Jessie Harrelson and her husband Floyd Cockrum and grandson Jeremy Graves. The family of Helen wishes to extend sincere thanks to Enhabit Hospice, Elvira, Jessel, Kara, Tori, and Yvonne.
