Israel Medrano Gomez

Israel Medrano Gomez was born on May 20, 1962, to his parents Antonio and Aroura (Lola) Gomez. A lifelong resident of Dexter, he graduated from Dexter High School. He worked for many years at Vick's Tire and Dexter Tire, where he became very skilled at repairing tires. Even though he never drove, he learned how to move and back up vehicles while working at one of the tire shops. He enjoyed working and took pride in the skills he learned over the years. Cremation has already taken place. A church service will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Christ Church, 307 S. Cambridge, Hagerman, NM with Tomas Serrano officiating the service. Burial will follow at Hagerman Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest at the feet of his beloved father. Israel He was friendly and could make friends wherever he went. It wasn't unusual to see him walking to Allsup's for his daily Tall's Up drink before heading to the post office. He never made the trip without stopping to visit with people along the way. He loved talking to everyone he met, and just about everyone knew him. His warm smile, kind heart, and easygoing personality left a lasting impression on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. Israel He was a diehard Pittsburgh Steelers fan who rarely missed cheering on his favorite team and never passed up the chance to tease Dallas Cowboys fans. He enjoyed sipping coffee with plenty of sugar throughout the day and always looked forward to his rolled-up tortilla. In his free time, he loved fishing and swimming, but his greatest passion was attending car shows and admiring lowriders, especially when he could share those experiences with his brother Arturo and his cousins. Music was also a big part of his life. Whether it was oldies, New Mexico Tejano music, reggaeton, conjunto, or banda, there was always a song playing that brought a smile to his face. He is survived by his aunts and uncles Romi Garcia, Mary and Lupe Franco, Sulema and Fermin Ornelas, Eloisa Peres, Manuela Moreno and Emma Medrano and numerous cousins on both sides of the Gomez/Medrano family, who will cherish his memory and carry his love with them always. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Arturo Gomez and Orlando Gomez, grandparents, Augustine and Dorita Gomez and Anacleto and Francisca Medrano and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousin HONORARY PLALLBEARERS: Anthony Gonzalez, Edan Gomez,Jaime Gomez, Fermin Ornelas, Christina and Rene Ornelas, Orlando Vargas and Monica Medrano The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Anthony Gonzalez, Edan Gomez, Jaime Gomez ,Fermin Ornelas, Christina and Rene Ornelas, Orlando Vargas and Monica Medrano who helped and supported him following the loss of his brother. We know how deeply he missed his family, and your kindness, friendship, and willingness to be there for him meant more than words can express.
